waited 1 and half hours in Line with everyone else. when my turn came immigration officer ask me few question like how did you meet your wife and what kind of work you would be doing in America. After looking at all of the documents and putting a stamp on Passport he gave me all the documents he told me to go to Green Card desk and it took only 2 or 3 mins after that for them to take my finger prints and signature. |

Ahmed decided he wanted to surprise me so didn't tell me he was coming till he got stuck in NY. They kept him in immigration while they called DC for 2 hours. He did ask them to change his visa from CR to IR, but they said no and told him to do it at immigration here. They set him up in a hotel and he will arrive in Portland tomorrow morning 3-12-09, God willing. |

We did not received the brown enevelope that you should get back with your passport. When we went thru they had just change the system so we though since he didn't get it that means they are not doing that anymore. Not so, when he went thru customs they asked him for it, he said he didn't get that, then they took him to the back in a little room, they questioned him, fingerprint him, they had him back their for almost two hours. The officer said they called the embassy in JA and they told him they gave it to him, (we are not sure if he actually called or the embassy was lieing). Well they left him go and gave him 30days to come back with the enevelope. It took two days of calling DHL and the embassy to finally get it straight as it turn out the embassy still had it. So we had his uncle picked it up and fedex it for us. |

Hassen arrived to JFK from Paris on time and with no difficulties (This was his first international flight & he speaks fluent French so he really enjoyed AirFrance!!). Total time spent with immigration was approximately 1/2 hour which was predominately spent waiting in line. Oddly, he wasnt asked any questions & didnt receive the I-94 either. Luckily we were able to prove CBP error & they were able to verify he was NEVER processed for entry despite receiving the K3 stamp in his passport. CBP in our area verified everything, let me bring his passport to their office & they stapled the I-94 to his passport - NO FEE! Now we can continue with more of the journey. |
