they were extremely nice to me over there, but there were some diplomates that arrived with me and they got to go first so it took me a very long time to go through the immigration part.
And by the way- bring some single dollars so you can rent a cart for your bags. |

Was a very strange evening at JFK Airport. I was sitting waiting to be called. There was about 20 other people in the room, a lot of people looked nervous and on edge. Their names were called up and they stood at the front desk. Seeing people getting denied was probably the reason of the mood in the room.
A big bloke then came towards me and said my name. He told me to follow him, and I thought oh sh!t I'm getting deported. He walked me out of the room and started asking me normal questions. Soon as he said 'Welcome to the United States' I felt relaxed at ease.
He asked if I wanted the EAD stamp on passport and I said yes. Off I went happy as can be. |

JFK immigration was very crowded with long queues, very stressful when you have a connecting flight. Once it was my turn it took about 20 minutes to get thru...being that I had a visa I thought it would be easier and faster...maybe it was?
Went thru JFK to get EAD stamp, and after having done so, I would not recommend this route unless
1. JFK is a fairly convenient entry point
2.You already have a job lined up...as most employers are not keen to hire someone that may have to stop working after 3 months for an indefinite period of time.
If you need to get back to work, in my opinion it's probably best to just get on the AOS papers ASAP...my EAD came thru in 90 days. |
