Was NOT properly processed beyond getting an entry stamp in passport. I-94 not given, we had to rectify this by going to a nearby poe in NY to get properly processed and in the system. |

To begin, I was there to pick up Natalia from her flight at IAD airport on December 16, 2009. I arrived early well before her 5pm arrival but they kept her for another 2 whole hours at customs! They were rude and kept sending her back and forth to the windows and all over the place. I was waiting for her plane to come in and it did...and the time went by. No Natalia. So I walked over to a customs officer, flowers in hand but since he was just getting off his shift he just shrugged off all my questions when I asked about my "missing fiancee." Natalia appeared later (much later, after I was in a state of extreme anxiety and panic) and explained that the customs officers were giving her "the evil eye" and didn't believe her story of a fiance waiting for her at the airport. (Despite the fact that all her documents, medical papers and her USA entry visa was in order) To put a cherry on top of the whole experience at the airport terminal they ripped into the side of Natalia's luggage and tore it beyond repair. What a "wonderful" start of a life's journey. A terrible example of a welcoming committee for others coming to this USA port of entry. Steer well clear of this POE if you want your loved ones to be treated fairly and to remain hassle-free. |

We packed everything into my Ford minivan and left on the evening of December 14 and stayed overnight at a Best Western in Sarnia.
At about 11AM the next day, we crossed at Port Huron Blue Water Bridge. We were in line for about 30 minutes before it was our turn. Since I did not get my automatic window fixed, Roland had to open the door to talk to the CBP lady. She was not very happy about this and asked how long it was broken for. Anyway, she took our passports and the K1 Visa package and gave us this little orange slip and asked us to drive to the secondary inspection area where all the offices were. We were told to leave our cell phones and take our wallets with us and surrendered our keys to the officers.
There wasn't much of a line at this point and one officer took our case. Then he passed it onto another officer who took care of our car import. In all, this took about 1 1/2 hours to complete
All in all, a good experience! Hello USA! |

Very nice and very professional officer. Asked a few questions about how we met, when we first met, and plans for wedding. |
