Rodrigo & Christine Vermont Service Center 2015-08-31 2015-09-03 2015-09-30 2016-12-05 Yes No 2017-06-09 My case was taking longer than usual and I called USCIS right after the usual processing time to ask about my case. I received a letter with a case update 2 weeks later. The problem is that the letter said that a RFE had been sent to me a couple of month before and I never responded to it. It stated that I should respond ASAP but it also said that usually if no response was given to a RFE within a certain time frame, my application would be cancelled (I was way past the time frame at that point). The other problem is that I never received the letter with the RFE. The RFE was asking why I had my in laws address listed as contact instead of my condo. I am actually glad I did leave their house as my mail address since they are a more reliable place to receive mail. I explained that in the letter I sent back to USCIS and was praying my case was not cancelled. Helpful things to do: -Make sure you triple check if the mail was really not delivered. - Do call the USCIS help line as soon as you think there is something wrong with your application - Call then again once you send the case back to double check your application hasn't been cancelled and let them know you sent the documents needed. To sum it up, what we think happened was a glitch on their system that sent the letter at a wrong time or address. We learned that this can happen. I received my visa and now applying for citizenship. 2017-07-10
