Jan 13: received e-notice for both case files, with the same message that a letter was undeliverable to our address, even though we have received mail at this address before. (We verified our correct address again and made sure to add my husband's name on the mailbox.) I called the National Customer Service Center and submitted a Service Request to have the letters re-sent. I was told by Jennifer that my Service Request would be sufficient to request that letters for both case files be re-sent and to call back if I had not received the letters within 15 days. Jan 22: received same e-notice for both case files again, and when I called the NCSC, Maria informed me the wait was 30 days because of a backlog. Additionally, she said my original Service Request was for only the I-485. She created another Service Request for the I-765. No one could tell me what the contents of the letters were, so we could only assume they were the receipt notices, and possibly the notice for the biometric appointment, which THANK GOD after researching this site God just told my heart to GO to the USCIS office and try to do the biometrics, spurred by panic that the application would be null if we missed the appointment. It is not a dumpy place in a mall in Raleigh; it is in an official USCIS building. We showed up, and I explained we didn't have an appointment and how could we when they couldn't send us the mail and wouldn't tell us what the contents of the messages were. After talking to a standing guard, then a desk guard, the guy at intake office told us he'd let us do a walk-in biometrics appointment, and we were prepared to wait all afternoon, but my husband was in and out quickly (we went at lunchtime). Before we left, we saw the date stamp on the completed form was for the next day, so to make sure everything was perfect we talked to the guy who did the biometrics, and he said "Yeah, it's okay. You just showed up a day early." So furious, but gave thanks to God! One of the returned letters was obviously our appointment date that NO ONE could tell us about. USCIS is such a joke. Checked with USCIS about the missing letters again, and Tier 2 tried to tell me the completed biometrics showing on my husband's file must be a mistake (since we hadn't received the letters), and I told her absolutely not, we went on our own no thanks to them. Four months later still haven't received the appointment letter, and only received the receipt letters after additional e-mail/phone requests. EAD received in February, at any rate. Whew!	2016-09-23
