We live in New York but we were assured this is normal. Our RFE was about the medical examination. We asked that the full I693 be completed as part of our K1 application so we wouldn't have to do it again. Apparently it wasn't. Double check before you turn in your I485 that the information from your K1 medical exam is complete - including recent PPDs and serologic testing! We had to redo part of ours and went to Dr. Jean Pascal Simon 36 E 70th Street, # 1, New York, NY 10021 (212) 677-1000. WE DO NOT RECOMMEND HIM!!! We paid $175 for the office fee - we have insurance but they would not bill for the office visit (should have been a $25 copay). They also told us that was all we would have to pay and then we were later slammed with an additional $108.88 in lab fees (if we'd been uninsured that total would have been nearly $350). We asked for PPD and serologic tests only but the doctor ordered titer tests for all immunizations as well and we still had to pay even though he ordered tests we did not need. My advice: ask TONS of questions of your US Civil Surgeon before you go in and shop around. Don't let them treat you badly - this guy is an OBGYN and seems to be in this civil surgeon business to make an extra buck. We were approved with no interview and the green card arrived in the mail the day after the notice even though we were prepared to wait 3 weeks to get it. 2009-04-11
