There were a few people before us, many more after us. I guess all the interviewers were on their lunch break for I saw them walking past us and into their rooms as we were waiting. The wait wasn't too bad, we got in a little past 12:30. We had a man for our interview. He walked us into his room and he took our oaths. Then he sat us down, asked for our passports and took out my large file which had everything inside of it. He first asked us how long we were married which threw me off a little bit because it was out of the blue but I answered it confidently. He took out 2 sheets of paper which explained how we have to remove conditions 90 days before the 2 year green card expired, made sure we understood it and had us sign it. At this point, I was like "Is it over already...?" But no, it was just the beginning. He looked through the file for about 7 minutes and asked me the same questions that was on page 3 of form I-485, which was all answered "no". He asked my husband what he does for work and asked me what I did when I was in Japan, and a few other questions. Then he took out a sheet of paper which had numerous questions printed on it. - How did we meet? - When did we meet? - When did we start dating? - Common interests? - When did we meet each others parents? - When did we decide to get married? - Whose idea was it? - Why did we marry each other? - Was it civil or religious? - Guests? - Did we have a reception? Then he asked if we had any joint accounts. I took out documents of rent, bank, and insurance. He took those and checked it off on the paper. And that was pretty much it... He didn't let us know we were approved. He just told us that if they approve it, we will receive the green card in about 2-4 weeks. If they needed anything else, they will send us a letter. Overall, it went better than expected. He didn't ask to see any other papers or photos of us. He even cracked minor jokes. The questions were really simple and straightforward. | 2012-05-01

Be sure to visit Civil Surgeon and have a new I-693 done if you aren't sure if it is done. First time I've seen this problem. Wait almost 2 weeks after turning in I-693 before receiving email that it's been approved. Also, despite hand delivering, they could not tell me if the IO received the document. | 2009-10-16

She asked a few questions, and we had all the answers. If your marriage is true, you will be able to answer the questions. We had all required paperwork ready for viewing, but was not asked for. She and the daughter was approved and just waiting for greencard now. This journey has been a smooth ride so far. WHAT IS TAKING THE GREENCARD SOOOOO LONG TO COME?????? went to dept homeland security today, and was told if we do not receive greencard or letter within two weeks to schedule a info pass appointment (AGAIN)TO GET PASSPORT STAMPED. Now as good as things was going, this is a little ridiculous. Well, it has been a while. Today is 3/21/2011 and we are preparing to file lifting conditions for wife and children. If any of you have a problem with K2 aging out due to being over 21 years old when adjusting status, feel free to drop me a line and I will fill you in with a lot of info. | 2013-12-09

Called USCIS 800# and they issued EAD week later. Wrote letter to ask for "interview exception" and got no response. Called USCIS in D.C. and was told that there is no such thing as "interview exception". Called again and told same, as well as being "verbally scolded" -lady asked me if I could read. I know two people who got "interview exceptions" and they weren't "special" -neither even graduated college. I asked USCIS about "criteria" and they said there is none, because there are no exceptions...everyone must be interviewed. Hmmm. My need for "exception" is simple: It costs me 500 to fly the family to Honolulu again (1st time for biometrics) and I don't have the money to spare now. | 2010-11-06
