Crossed at the Detroit/Windsor tunnel. Secondary wasn't particularly busy but I was still made to wait ~40min for a specific guy to process me, because the first guy said he didn't know how to process a visa. Others waiting were in and out in 15 minutes. Eventually the agent checking people in had to remind the guy that I'd been waiting for him for over 30 minutes.

The agent took my passport and folder. I sat back down and he called me up maybe 15 minutes later. I asked a few times about my CR-1 being switched to IR-1 because I was past my second anniversary but the agent wouldn't process it as IR-1, ugh. Hopefully whoever processes my green card catches it.

After he finished processing the visa, I informed him I was importing a car as well and he got snippy at me for not telling him sooner. The car import form took me fewer than 5 minutes to fill out (make sure you review the CBP form 7501 ahead of time so you know what's expected of you or just bring a pre-filled form). He took a photocopy of my compliance letter and the 7501, and sent me on my way. The other import forms mentioned on CBP's website were not required.

All in all it was very easy, although I did get some attitude from the agent which wasn't necessary. He told me I had come at a "bad time" I guess because buses full of people kept showing up. Sorry not sorry!

I arrived at Detroit airport. First time in USA, with IR2 visa. You have 3 areas for each type of arrival as I noticed. I needed to take last one. There were about 10 checkpoints. I waited till one was available and mister at one of those checkpoints called me. I went to him, gave him my passport and envelope from embassy. He was really pleasant guy. He took my picture and my fingerprints. Then he took me with him to some room. There was some girl crying and russian guy talking with CBP lady on russian. Mister with beard and tattoo took my papers, typed something on computer and then he called me, gave me my passport and said good luck! And that was it. CBP at Detroit airport is really great!

We were fhe only flight arriving at the time which I thought was strange since it was 6 in the afternoon. Our flight wasn't even full.
We went through the US citizen line and gave the lady the passports. She took my picture and fingerprints and took our envelopes and passports, then led us to a room.

There were about 10 people of various ethnicities waiting there. Some were being detained or deported! We overheard one was a drug mule!

We waited about 20 minutes during which my 2 year old almost brought the place down!
I didn't get asked anything other than when we got married and where to mail the green card/ssn.
Got stamp and went on my way. Took maybe 10 minutes just because there were 3 of us.
Collected bags (nobody checked them out the cat!) And move to catch our connecting flight to GRR.

Btw they weren't amused about my little one being so naughty but she was just in a plane sitting for 10 hours can you blame her?
