My interview was fast and efficient. Nothing out of the ordinary or unexpected. Just make sure you bring everything they ask for.

And if you have any doubts or questions prior to your interview they are very helpful and fast at answering your e-mails.

I had my interview scheduled on 11th october and I was very nervous but the people were very nice and reassuring. So I'm going to tell you how it was for me in case you might find it helpful.
I was at the Embassy in Bucharest 30 mins earlier and they told me to wait across the street (there were 3 more people). A man came with a list when it was close to 1 and he asked to see the passport and the confirmation page of the DS160. He called us inside where we had to remove the belt, give them electronics and go through a metal detector (I beeped but they still let me go haha) Then when I was done with that I had to walk outside to enter another building where I got seated in the waiting room and I got called to window 2 very fast to have my fingerprints taken (since I was very nervous the woman had to explain me a lot of times how to place my fingers and she got a little annoyed with me but it's understandable :lol Then she asked for the payment confirmation, 2 pictures, police certificate, passport, copy of passport, birth certificate original and copy, proof of financial support and proof of relationship. Then she told me to wait to be called at window 9. I was the last to be called which perfect since it gave me more time to relax and remember the exact dates.
Then I was called by an officer and he after he put me under the oath, he asked me where I've met my fiance, how much we've been talking for, his age, his job, if he speaks romanian, if my family will attend the wedding, if he has visited me before, if he was married, if i have ever been to the US and what plans do I have after I go there. After I answered all this questions he said "Ok, we're done here" This scared me so much because he said it in a very serious voice so I thought he was going to deny me but then he said "I've approved your visa and you'll get it in 2 or 3 days" :X

Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

My interview was at 1PM. I arrived at approx 12.40PM and waited outside the embassy along with 2 other people who were being interviewed that day as well.
At 12:55PM, an embassy employee checked our passports and we were then allowed to go inside the embassy.

Security check: they look through everything including your wallet. One of the security guards took my phone (which had to be switched off) and gave me a tag with a number on it so that I can retrieve it after the interview.

I then arrived into the waiting area which was empty and was directed to go to the first window and was asked to provide the following:
- 2 photos
- original documents (marriage certificate, birth certificate)
- current passport + old passport with tourist visa in it
- sealed medical envelope
- proof of relationship (I had a photo album containing around 100 photos, flight confirmations for both of us, engagement/wedding announcements along with comments from family and friends)

30 mins later, window 8 opened and a US Consul and I was the second one to be called for the interview.
He swore me in, returned my original documents and old passport and he told me he was going to ask me a few basic questions. The whole interview took about 10 mins only because he was typing so much on his computer and would ask me a question every 2 mins or so. The questions were:
1. Who is the petitioner?
2. When and how did you meet?
3. What does he do for a living?
4. Where does he live?
5. He pointed at one of the pictures in the photo album I provided and asked me where it was taken.
6. How many times did he visit you and how many times did you visit him?

He then stamped something onto a document and signed it, told me everything looked good and that I should receive my passport with the visa in a few days.

MY OVERALL IMPRESSION: Everyone was just...borderline nice (if that's a thing) - they were nice enough so that you couldn't complain.

A piece of advice for everyone who is going through the process in Romania: DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES have your medical done at the BIOMEDICA clinic. The embassy appointed doctor will recommend pointless additional medical examinations (such as ENT, Dermatology, Endocrinology) which you will have to pay for yourself (apart from the 600-750lei you already pay for the medical examination). Everyone who was at the interview that day said they were forced to have these additional medical examinations, otherwise the embassy doctor would not give them their results back). When I had my medical done, the doctor palpated my submandibular ganglia and said I needed an ENT consultation. He did not even look at my throat or my nose (which he was supposed to do). Anyway, avoid this clinic, they will try to take advantage of you as much as they can.

Review Topic: K1 Visa

Hi everyone! So great news, yesterday had my interview and it went great! Which means I got approved hehe and thought i would share my experience of how it all went hoping it would help some of you future applicants to have an idea on how it all works and really, just not stress about it!
So i had my interview scheduled at 1 PM and got there half an hour early just to be sure. At 5 minutes before 1 PM, the guard officer came outside with the list of names and asked for my passport and then checked the list then told me to head to the entrance. I got there and another officer came outside and checked all of our belongings, bags backpacks. So now, HERE...all of you that are going to the Embassy with bags remember that they won't let you in with them! I didn't know that and had to go back to the Mall, a 15 minutes walk to leave it at a supermarket, so that was a bit frustrating. After that, I came back and went in, i handed my phone and all i had with me, went through the screening then I was officially in the Embassy. Then you have to enter through a big and heavy metal door where a guard will ask you to wait. There will be a long hallway where on the right there's the waiting area with chairs and on the left the interview area. You sit and wait at the waiting area until the Romanian consul will say your name and ask you to approach one of the windows and give her all of your documents (Birth certificate copy + original, 2 photographs, police clearance, Affidavit of support (They accept joint sponsorship's!) with tax returns, bank account statements, TNT confirmation and visa application fee). Here, he/she will also take your fingerprints. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ALL OF YOUR DOCUMENTS! Double check everything! After I was done with that, I waited again for about 30 minutes before the American consul called my name and headed over to the interview window. The consul was super nice and friendly even though i was a bit stressed because our case was pretty uncommon, applying as a gay couple. Basic questions were "How did you meet?" "When did he visit?" "Where does he work?" "Where will you marry?". After about 5 minutes I'd say, all he said was "Well, it's pretty straight forward, so you're visa is approved!". I asked him if I have to wait for any papers but he said no, everything is good and they will deliver my passport with the visa in about 2 days. And that was it!
Some tips for all of you applying for a visa and about to have your interview: - make sure you have all of your documents, original and copy especially of your birth certificate ( a lady's application was denied because she didn't have her birth certificate in original);
- double check everything;
- don't hesitate to call the Embassy and ask for advice when you feel lost;
- make a doctors appointment well before your interview, i had mine done a month prior to the interview and luckily you have the option to keep the results at the clinic till the day of the interview ( I had mine done at Regina Maria Baneasa clinic);
- try not to stress and stay confident! That will mean a lot at the interview!
