Arrived in Stockholm 14th of December. Our interview was the 15th of December. I had both my daughters with me. Age 12 and 14, I was told to bring them both even though it says everywhere than children under the age of 14 does not need to attend the interview.
We stayed at a hotel/hostel close to the embassy. STF Gärdet, highly recommended. It was cheap and cozy!
Our interview was at 8:30am the next morning. We walked from the hotel to the embassy. It was freezing cold but a. Ice walk. It's just across the field from the hotel. Took us about 30 min to walk because it was very icy. Got to the embassy and there was no one in line for immigrants. We stood in the right place. The line for non-immigrants was long, but not too long.
After a few minutes the guard at the embassy told everyone to stay in the same line so we had to move to the back of the non-immigrant line. Blah. But the line moved pretty fast so it wasn't too bad. I was stressing a little bit because the time was closing in on 8:30.
We finally got called up at both my daughters and me went up. We had to show our passports, take our jackets off and show the bottom of our shoes. Then he asked us to turn our cell phones off before he let us in. We went through security, checked in our phones and then we were told to follow the yellow line up to the embassy. When we got in a guard aproached us and asked what we were there for. I told him immigration and he told us to walk up to window 7.
At window 7 a very nice lady took my papers. She asked for the DS-160, our passports, Divorce records, birth certificates, police certificate, I-134 and all other financial evidence. I gave her my fiancé's tax return, payslips and letter of employment. I also gave her my bank statements to show my own assets. She asked how much I had and I told her and she said that it would be alright then. Big relief, but this was just the first stop... I was very worried about the financial side because my fiancé doesn't quite meet the poverty guideline. Then she asked for proof of relationship. I gave her Skype logs and other chat logs and a whole bunch of pictures. I told her I had personal letters and the receipt from the engagement ring, but she said she didn't need it. Then she asked for our passport photos and told us to go sit down and wait for our interview.
T was a surprisingly small room with about 7-8 small windows where all the interviews were conducted. I had imagined it would be so much bigger and more formal, almost like an interrogation. But it was very informal. I was very calm at this point. Like my emotions had shut down. I felt neither nervous or anxious or worried or confident. I was just ok actually. Up to this day I've been extremely stressed out and nervous. But not at that point.
The lady that gathered my papers called me up to the window again and asked me to fill out my name and address on two large envelopes. When I handed it to her she asked me did you guys really meet on a karaoke app? I laughed and I said yes. She laughed a little bit too.
Then more waiting. I can't really tell you how long because it seemed like forever. But there's no clock in there and our phones and watches was taken in security.
Finally we got called up to window 4. A man sitting there asked for my fingerprints and my oldest daughters fingerprints. My youngest did not need to give fingerprints but asked for mine again instead. Then he read us a statements and we had to confirm if the statement was true. It was pretty much about swearing to have filed a thruthful application. Both me and my oldest daughter had to raise our right hand and confirm it was true. Then he asked me where we met, how we met, where he lives and if I liked his town, where he works and what he does, what I was planning on doing there (as soon as I mentioned that I've worked for Fedex for 9 years he was ohhh ok). He asked if I went to see him and if he had been in my country and the last time I saw him. Then he asked the kids what they thought of it all all and what they thought if him. Then he said well congratulations on doing a good job filing your application. You are approved! And that was that! I asked if my youngest daughter could travel after me with her father and they said that's no problem as long as it's within the validity of the medical exam. I'm a little unsure what that means because I find contradicting statements on how long it's valid for. But seems like we all need to be in the US by may 2017. The interview itself took maybe 5 minutes! And we were out the door at 10am. So all in all we spent 1,5 hours in there. I'm so happy and relieved!! And we didn't the whole process with no immigration lawyer. I'm glad we did.

Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

Showed up at the consulate at 8 am. Interview was scheduled at 8.30 am. Waited in the Immigrant visa line and was called after a couple of minutes. Showed my ID through the window, opened my bag so they could look into it, went behind the yellow line, had to take my jacket off and turn around, then show the underside of my shoes. Then I was allowed into the security area. A full screening was done,..just like at the airport. Keep in mind you are not allowed to bring your phone, your wrist watch, car keys, headphones or any electronics inside. They even kept the memory stick I had i my purse. I was told to follow the yellow line to the next building and go to window 7. A nice young lady asked me to hand over my documents in the order she asked for them. Then finally to put my name and address on the package envelope. Then to sit down and wait to be called for my interview. I waited for an hour before I was called to window 4. Read the pledge and gave my fingerprints. Then he started asking some questions,.. like; where did you meet your husband? Have he ever lived in Norway? If I have any children,..and how they feel about me moving? When I saw him last, and how we stay in touch while apart. The interview took about 5 minutes or so. Then he told me we were approved. Overall a good experience.

Thanks to VJ I had a very enjoyable time at the consulate, although nervous and shaking from standing in the cold rain outside.

My appointment was for 08.30, and I arrived more than an hour early. They started letting people in at 07.30. I stood in the (not sheltered) immigrant line all by my lonesome and was prioritized to come in. The security guys seemed confused that I was there so early, but took pity on me and waived me in.

The most awkward part was doing the little dance outside the window before they let me in (up to the window, back behind the line, take jacket off, turn around and show your feet etc, ha-ha). After that they let me in, I went through the security check and they took my phone. I got to keep the canvas bag with documents and my valet. I was told to go to window 7 inside the consulate.

Since I was early I waited for a while before somebody came to see me. The first lady took my passport and told me to wait.

I was called back by another lady to give her my documents. She was very pleased that I had everything in order. She collected my passport photos, my ds160 confirmation page, my BC, my police record, my fiancés I134 and financial information. She had me confirm that neither my fiance or me had been married before or had children and that I had not lived outside Norway or had any arrests outside Norway. Finally she asked for evidence of relationship. I gave her proof of our four meetings since we filed the petition, a Skype log and some BBM screenshots. She commented "wow, that's a lot", but seemed pleased. She commented that everything looked in order, made me write my address on an envelope and told me that I should expect 10 days for the visa processing.

Finally I had the interview with the consule. This was a young, blond and very sweet girl. She took my fingerprints and asked how we met, when we started dating, how many times I had been to visit him, how many times he had visited me, whether we had met each other's family, she asked me about his siblings, when our wedding was planned for, if my family would come for the wedding and how big it would be. Finally she said she had very good news, I was approved! She gave me my relationship evidence back and I was good to go.

I got my phone back from the security guys and one if them even offered to call me a taxi :-D

I was at the embassy at 8 am, and lined up by the sign that says to line up there if you're a US citizen or you have an immigrant visa interview scheduled. After about 10-15 minutes of waiting I was called up to security, where I had to show them my passport and DS-160 confirmation page, plus take off my jacket and show them the bottoms of my shoes. Then inside, through the metal detector, where they gave me a receipt for my cell phone and keys, that I wasn't allowed to bring in with me.

Inside, the security officer didn't know if the K1 was an immigrant or non-immigrant visa - I told him immigrant, and was sent to window G. There I gave them my passport at first. I was then called back to window G a little later, to give them the rest of my paperwork (passport photos, I-134, proof, birth certificate, police certificate, divorce decree with translation). He also asked me a few questions about how/when we met, and had me write my name and address on an envelope.

After another short wait I was called up to window D for my actual interview. After swearing me in and taking my fingerprints, she asked me questions about how/when we met, how many times we'd met, why was I moving to the US and not him to Norway, wedding plans. Then she told me my visa was approved and that I would receive my visa in the mail in about 14 days.

All in all a very good experience. Everyone were really friendly, and the whole process was very quick - I was done by about 8:45, since they let me in early (my appointment was originally at 8:30).
