Review Topic: K1 Visa

Upon entering premisses needed to go through security check. Took phone and asked to switch off. Everyone was kind and super helpful.
I was escorted from security building to main visa building section.
Arrived in big waiting room, took my turn number for visa interview. There were only 3 people before me. Everyone can hear what you are saying while waiting your turn.
There were two calls, one for proof of documents, second for actual interview.
Between these two calls the waiting time was around 1h or so.

Interview went really quick, maybe 10min in total.

Review Topic: K1 Visa

A little overview of our experience with K-1 visa as summarized by my fiancee.

Timing
- embassy received our paperwork on the last day of May,
- they reviewed it during next week,
- the interview took place on 10th June,
- visa was ready next day, 11th June,
- and I picked it from delivery on 12th.

x) as described in the forum(visajourney.com) - we tracked delivery of paperwork to Embassy. We didn't schedule the interview right away to let them get familiar with our case for a week. Since all documents(as listed in https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/family-immigration/nonimmigrant-visa-for-a-fiance-k-1.html#6 , for example ) from my side were ready a while (including medical and criminal records) - all we had to do was wait. That was the hardest part.
I sent email to embassy - listing all the documents, translations - and asking is that all or do I need something more. It was enough for them and they didn't even want to see everything listed there.

Funny thing - packet 3 in the snail mail (with information that they got our paperwork, information about my rights and link to information we need to prepare for interview) I got on 11th June (when my visa was prepared) - though it was signed on 6th June... go figure The email packet 3 came much sooner on June 6. But again, the info in the packet 3 was pretty much the same as listed in the instructions on the embassy's webpage.

x) On D day I arrived a little bit early. For future information - there is a visitors parking lot at the embassy (to the left from the main entrance when facing it)!
Right behind visitors parking - is the entrance to visas and interviews. Since I left everything in my car (except documents, car keys, glasses and FitBit) my entrance was fast, though they held on to my FitBit. And they asked about my son coming to interview, even though he's not coming to the USA with me. Still, don't know why somebody decided that K-2 is required - we haven't requested it. Maybe because the list with prepared documents contained his birth certificate - but that's requested by them...

x) when I entered the building - I was given a number from the security guard and immediately called to submit all paperwork, including my passport.

x) very soon I was called for interview. Fingerprinting machine didn't work quite well or my fingers aren't standard enough. Warming up fingers... wetting them with the alcohol wipe (provided by the interviewer)... it took some time.

x) after a couple of questions - my interviewer apologized that "it has nothing to do with your interview, but I have to step away for couple of minutes". He was gone for about 30 minutes.
Good pictures on walls from USA, but still quite boring and not enough people to look at in the lobby )

x) main "course" - what was I asked about, what had I submit and present - since when we are officially engaged, what is my fiancee's education, what does she do now, when was she divorced, who am I, what was my last job, do I intend to do the same in the USA.
What I wasn't asked about - evidence of the ongoing relationship, I-134 Affidavit of Support.

x) that was, basically, it. Another funny moment at the end of the interview - when interviewer returned originals, he managed to give me back my passport. When I knocked on the glass and asked - do you really DON'T need my passport? He asked back - did I give it BACK to you?!

x) Anyway, the visa was ready the next morning around 10:30 AM. I picked it up the next day. All went very smoothly and fast.

Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

Very nice consulte where you feel like in the USA. I arrived 15 min earlier of my interview time and went security check. Needed to leave all electronic devices as phone, watch, headphones. Then I was able to go to the main building. In all my presence I saw 2 other people waiting for immigration visa appointment.

I was called to the window where very nice lady collected original of my birth certificate and marriage licence, medical check, police report and other docents which they asked to bring. After that I waited around 30 min to be called to another window for the interview. There is no walls between document/interview window and wiatinf area. Everyone can hear what is asked and answered.

First I needed to scan my fingerprints. Next was out that I submitted and will only answer truth. Questions- Who is pettitoner? When I met my husband? How we met? How long we are married? What my husband do for work? Where we are planning to move in the USA? What I do for work?

Then I heard you are approved and will receive a passport with Visa tomorrow. I asked additional questions and interviewer answered to them.

Very good experience.
