Review Topic: K1 Visa

My husband had his appointment at 10:00am on November 4, 2015 at the Tbilisi embassy. I would have gone with him, but I was in the US (although I've heard they don't let in American partners who aren't going to be at the interview). My husband reported back that they only asked him three questions: 1) How did we meet, 2) How long have we been together, and 3) When are we getting married. They provided him with an interpreter (his English isn't conversational) although he said he managed to understand a lot of what was being said by the interviewer. Also, they said that he had a really well-organized packet (credit to visajourney for that, since I use all their checklists when putting packets together). Overall my husband reported back that it was a smooth process.

Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

10am appointment as always we arrived like 2 hours early and waiting in McDonald's, when the time came for me to go in I was called forward about 3 times over the period of about 3 hours.

Each time they asked the same questions, why are you processing through Georgia and not London? Do you have a residency card in Tbilisi, Do you have a military ID?

They basically reviewed all the documents but kept asking for a military ID.

I have never served so do not have an ID!

At the end they declined my visa on the grounds of a damaged passport. (There was a crease in the corner and the embassy lady claimed it damaged the security features but it worked perfectly).

Approved!!!

Our appointment was at 8:30 am. We arrived very early, at 7:30, for we hoped to get inside first to avoid the long waiting for the CO. But unfortunately, my name (the petitioner's) was not on the entry list, though I was promised by the email from the consulate, it would be there. So, the guards started calling the consular office to make sure I can be let in. While me and my husband were waiting for them, the other people from the line were checked in, so, we turned to be the last who entered the building. Be advised, that Tbilisi embassy is very strict regarding the stuff you can bring inside. No food, drinks, cosmetics, electronics or anything is allowed. I even had to throw away my sachets with anti-flu drink I bought the other day and left in my purse. So, you better don't bring anything but your papers to stay on the safe side.
Inside everything was verrry quiet! Almost 20 people were inside when we entered. Names were called through low-volume speakers and a small hall gave you the feeling you were at the church.
Documents were collected from my husband, and I was amazed and frustrated, that our notarized translations were not needed, though we paid a good amount of money for them here, and the Georgian interview instructions say, the translations have to be notarized. So, the translations I made myself and our friend signed for us were good - they were all from the NVC package I sent them. the originals were verified, but not all of them - the petitioner's divorce decrees were never asked for.
Basically NONE of the documents, we brought in, except the originals, were needed...8(((( My NVC package had all the evidence they wanted.
When my husband was invited to the CO, I approached the window with him, but I was asked to sit down immediately :-((( Thank God, the chairs are just 2 steps away from the window, and I could see and hear everything.

He was asked, where and how we met, where I work, where I live in the US, when I arrived in Georgia and if we live together here. What my son's name and age is. Some questions were repeated. Also he was asked about his father, who also immigrated in the US 11 years ago, and about his next of keen he has in Georgia.
There happened a little mashup too - the CO was looking at my husband's divorce decree, which said that marriage was concluded in 2010, and at the same time he was asking him about our marriage, which was concluded in 2015. So, his impression was that my husband was lying or didn't know something))) Then he figured out his mistake and apologized.
The entire conversation lasted 15 minutes. When I saw my husband's passport being taken away into a yellow paper folder, my heart sank joyfully - "approved"???
Then I saw some paper being handed to my husband, which did not look like form 221)))) and it gave me a little more hope. Then finally he walked away from the window with a shiny face and I asked him - is it yes? Yes, approved, he said, and the passport can be picked up in 3 days.

We saw another spousal visa interview - a young girl - it was approved. And another one - of a man in his 50s, who was denied. My husband, who was listening to the conversation, said, the guy did not know anything about his wife's previous marriages.

After entering the embassy at 8:40, we left it a 10 am, giggling nervously))) we are done with this important step, thank God!

Embassy stuff were amazing. I wasn't nervous at all. Consular was adorable, very nice American man. I still remember his face. Just few questions about 10 mins or maybe less. Trying to mislead me but if you're not fke then you will definitely get it. Good luck to everyone

Review Topic: K1 Visa

hello, everyone! want to share my experience about K1 visa interview in Tbilisi. I had my interview at 10 am, i got there at 9:30am. after security me and my daughter enter in consulate where we were a lot. most of people -for DV lottery. I had all paperwork in order: birth certificates, divorce certificate, DS-160,Non impediment, criminal records,5x5cm pics,(followed interview instruction), i broght our pics, hotel receipts, Western Union receipts, gift cards, thousands of pages of our Whatsapp and skype chats. Consul is young thin man, gentle and patient, russian speaking. I was asked when and how i met my boyfriend, how long we communicate, how many times we have seen each other in person, what did we give each to other as Cristmas gift. I answered all the truth. He kept our chats, pics but gave me passports (mine and my daughter's), gave us form 221g with marked : Administrative processing. when i asked him when can i have an answer, he told maybe few days, maybe few weeks.....i have no idea whats wrong....so waiting for their call...
