Pretty straight forward. When I arrived, the waiting area was really full, but I got seen pretty quickly (scheduled for 10:10am, started interview around 10:30am). Interview lasted around 20 minutes. First off I provided my documentation (passport, DL, GC, etc.), then went through the entire application confirming answers. Civics test was straight forward, was asked the following:
1) Who was the first president
2) Who is the governor of VA (home state)
3) What is one promise you make when becoming a US citizen
4) Name two federal holidays
5) Where is the Statue of Liberty located
6) What movement tried to end racial discrimination
For the writing I was asked to write down "The President lives in the White House"
I forget what I had to read...
That said, English is my first language, so wasn't expecting any trouble there.
The Immigration Officer was very nice.
He said I passed all the tests, and he woul... read complete review

My interview was at the DC office, which is actually located in Fairfax, VA. It was scheduled for 12.15 pm but we got there around 11.35. After going through security, we were directed to the interview waiting area, which was upstairs. I proceeded to check in but was told to wait 10 minutes since it was too early. At that time there were hardly anybody there, maybe one or two other couple. After waiting for a bit, I checked in at the counter by giving the lady the interview notice and was told to wait till my name was called. By then more and more people arrived and by 12.15 the entire waiting area were almost full of people.
We didn't wait too long. The IO came out and called my name maybe 5-10 minutes after 12.15. She brought us in to her office and asked us to sit down. She asked for our IDs and my passport. She started by explaining the procedures for the interview. She would first verify the information in the applications that we submitted, then she would ask my h... read complete review

After some waiting (around 30 minutes, not bad at all for a govt office) we were called in to speak with an officer. He was rather young, which I think played a big role. It was pretty straightforward, he asked us to verify the information on the form, asked about any changes (we moved, so the address needed to be updated), and after fingerprinting me he looked at our passports and asked us how we met, what our wedding day was like and asked if we had any additional evidence we wanted to submit. We were a little concerned because we didn't have a big wedding ceremony. It was literally just the two of us in a court with a sherriff and then we had brunch with my in-laws. We wanted it to be casual. He seemed totally fine with that. We gave him some photos from the wedding, and our parents together at a bbq. As well as joint lease contract, joint bank account, joint insurance and auto loan. He said the lack of paper evidence was absolutely acceptable given how young we were (22 and 21), an... read complete review

We arrived around 30 minutes before the interview, went through security, and were directed to report to the reception desk on the 2nd floor, where our interview notice was taken. We were told to sit down and wait until called, which is what we did. The waiting area is fairly big, and there are restrooms at the very back and drinking fountains in the middle.
After about 30-45 minutes past our stated interview time (12.45pm), we my name was called by an immigration officer, and we proceeded to the interview section with him.
The officer was very nice and welcoming. We were first sworn in and then had a seat. The officer took my finger prints, my picture, and looked at all of our ID documents. We both had our driver's licenses and our passports with us, and I had brought in my old (now invalidated) passport with the K1-visa in it as well. He then proceeded to explain to us that he would ask us some questions and that only the person addressed should answer, joking that ev... read complete review

We received a notice for our green card interview in early January (for an early February interview date). On our day of interview we arrived at the Fairfax office (near Dunn Loring metro station) 30 minutes before our scheduled interview. There was a line at the door for airport-style security, though it moved smoothly. They did not allow oranges, but did allow cell phones and laptops. Once inside (on the ground floor) we reported to the desk, and were directed to the second floor. The process took approximately 10 minutes.
Once on the second floor, we reported to the desk. They took the copy of our interview notice and asked us to take a seat. The waiting room looked relatively modern (better than Virginia DMV at Four Mile Run) with a flat screen TV with CNN on. There was a photo of President Trump on the wall. The atmosphere seemed generally pleasant. Many people (some were couples) were waiting there. Several couples had lawyers accompanying them.
