Review Topic: Naturalization

SF field office has 2 entrances: one on Sansome St and one on Washington St. I started waiting in line at the Sansome St entrance as it was the address listed on my interview letter, but the security guard sent me, and all visitors with appointments before 8am, to the other entrance around the corner. Getting into the building was a disorganized and painfully slow process.
Once inside it was pretty confusing to find where I was supposed to go. Entrance is on 1st floor, check-in was on 2nd floor, and waiting area on 3rd floor. Once seated I waited for a full hour before being called, despite having a very early 7:35 appointment. Interview itself went well, officer was friendly but did unexpectedly ask a lot of questions about my marriage although I applied for Citizenship under the 5-year rule. Harassment level 1/5.
The best part of the SF field office is that they offer same-day oath ceremony for naturalization. I did have to wait 1.5 hour after the interview, and there w... read complete review

Review Topic: Adjustment of Status

Feb 20 2022: Interview in the morning in SF. We arrived 30mins before schedule. While in the inner waiting area, we were called to the interview before our scheduled time and the officer thanked us for being early. He was pleasant, friendly and thorough. It was a pretty easy interview. I was bracing myself for intrusive questions such as 'What colour are your husband's underwear' but he asked nothing of the sort.

First we were asked to swear to tell the truth before taking a seat. He asked for my passport, EAD, Social Security, state ID and my husband's passport and driver's license. He asked me all of the questions on the I-485 form and physically check-marked each item on the papers when my answer matches what was written. He would also write down on the form anything I answer that wasn't there (have I been a part of any organization- I didn't write any on the form but I said orally 'like girl scouts?' and he wrote that down). Then he went through all the Yes/No quest... read complete review

Went for biometrics at 250 Broadway. Walked in hoping they could help me before my appointment (more than two weeks away.) Staff was glad to help, but they are strict about not using cell phones in the building, even to play games or check email. They're still super nice about enforcing that policy, though.

The officer put me at ease right away. He made sure I understood everything and made the entire process straight forward. I was so wound up before the interview, I was able to relax and get through it without any issues.

The process was quick and smooth. The officer asked us if we had anything we wanted to submit to support our case. We provided photos, updated financial documents (pay stubs, W-2s, employment verification letters, and tax returns), joint leases, and joint bank statements. The officer then just went through the I-485 form asking questions from it. She asked me questions like, “What is your wife’s parents’ names?” The questions were fairly basic. She told us we were doing good. My wife was nervous and stammered at times due to the language barrier, but the officer let me translate at times. She didn’t approve on the spot but said there should be no issues. About 4-5 hours later, we saw our online case update to “Your card is being processed.”
