Our experience with the Field Office in San Diego on the day of my children‘s interview and oath was nothing but friendly and professional. However, our adjudication process in San Diego took much longer than expected. SD and its proximity to the border, is probably one of the busier field offices.

This review is for the oath ceremony that was scheduled after the interview had occurred, i.e. not a same-day oath ceremony.
Very smooth as with my previous experiences with this field office. Word of warning, you may want to appear 20-30 minutes earlier than your appointment; sometimes there's a line at the entrance and they can sometimes choose to batch entrants, which means that you may clear the security check later than you'd think.
On guests: we were allowed guests though this is not noted on the oath ceremony notice. It is possible that this changes regularly, as I've noted previous and quite recent reports that guests were not allowed at theirs. I brought my toddler and my husband, and they had ample space to sit with me during the oath.
On attire: everyone wore something between business casual to business formal.

Very pleasant experience. I was scheduled for a Friday afternoon, so the building was noticeably quieter. The usual security measures up at the front: have on hand your interview appointment paper and your ID to show the security personnel before entering, then prepare to place all your things in an X-ray bin and remove your shoes to go through the detector.
After that, I was directed to the third floor to check-in where they took a photo of me and scanned my left and right index finger. Then I was told to go up to the fourth floor, where the interview waiting room is at. I was called about 10-15 minutes after my scheduled appointment time.
Followed the IO into their office, and they had me take the oath, then sit down to start the interview. They did my civics test first, then the English writing and speaking portion. My husband had his N-400 citizenship interview at the San Diego office. Staff were professional and mostly friendly; interview was long and very thorough, stressful due to a name mix-up in the background check (they thought my husband was someone else with the same name), but otherwise efficient.
Some particulars about the San Diego office: applicants have to wait OUTSIDE the main door in the cold (or hot) weather, and a uniformed officer will eventually come and open the door and let only the applicant inside. Don't arrive too early, they won't let you in more than 30 minutes in advance. Any family members have to find someplace else to wait, they aren't allowed in - there is a small waiting area in the building adjacent to the south, but no restrooms or vending machines or anything. Made for a slightly unpleasant long wait. As I wasn't allowed in, I ended up walking a few blocks to the south to a café near the courthouse.

Very smooth and easy--we were asked only a couple of very straightforward questions and then the agent processed the paperwork in front of us.
