Review Topic: Adjustment of Status

My wife and I had our interview for the GC on 3/15/2021. We arrived at 815am and our interview was at 830am. By 845am we had been approved. The Officer was really nice and friendly. He asked how we met, asked my wife questions from the I-485 and asked me about my experience in the Philippines. On March 19th my wife received her 10 year GC.

Whole interview was smooth...IO was friendly but after receiving answer, he went on to write that answer..during that silence was intimidating. Other than that pretty good experience. Interview last 40 mins.

This review is for the Application Support Center, which is on the first floor and is where I had my biometrics taken. We came in from central KY and parked at Fountain Square garage. Appointment was at 10:00 AM and I arrived at the building at 9:50 AM (note that only the applicant can enter the building). Guard at the door asked why I was there, checked my appointment notice and ID. Security was friendly and helpful in directing me to the ASC just down the hall. Due to COVID-19 protocols, the building felt pretty empty, and I was the only visitor in the lobby.

A staff member was waiting outside the ASC door, and he checked my appointment notice and ID. He asked several questions regarding possible COVID-19 exposure history, and then sent me into the office to check in. Another staff member behind plexiglass verified my appointment notice, stamped it, checked my ID, checked my hands (for wounds/scars I guess?), and had me sanitize my hands. I was the only person in the ... read complete review

Our interview was at 1:15pm. We arrived at 1pm but couldn’t check-in until around 1:10 because we had a large group in front of us and there was only one check-in desk open. After we checked-in, we ended up having to wait around 45 minutes. While we were waiting we observed some other couples that also had their interviews and some were being split so we assumed we would be too. Our officer was very friendly and we weren’t separated. He went over all the yes/no questions from the I-485 and then asked us some general questions about our relationship and then asked for our proof. We gave him our car registration, insurance information, bank details and we had a bunch of pictures. He asked us to pick 1 and he didn’t take our bank statements. Then he recommended my husbands case for approval. Besides the waiting, it was a nice experience.

We arrived to the USCIS office ~30 minutes before our interview time. We checked in at the window where they verified our documents and took a photo / fingerprint of my wife (the beneficiary). There were 4 other couples in the waiting room. The sequence we observed went like this: beneficiary was interviewed individually while petitioner stayed in waiting room, petitioner was interviewed individually while beneficiary stayed in waiting room, beneficiary called back to the room, couple exited together.

We went to the interview room together; the officer informed us that based on our file, we would either be interviewed separately or together. She went through our I-485 application while asking my wife to confirm certain things from it. Basic information like name, DOB, etc. Certain questions from the yes/no criminal/drug questions had been circled previously and she only asked about those (my wife answered 'no' to all). She asked for our marriage certificate and my last ... read complete review
