My husband had hi interview at the Guayaquil US Consulate in Ecuador. He arrived early with all his documents and at entry was asked to show the letter that he had an interview, once that was provided he went through security check and was told to sit in the waiting room. He was called up to give in all his paperwork and was told to sit down to which the consular will call him for his interview.

Moments later, he was called to begin his interview. The consular asked him a few questions, our relationship, my name, my job, what he plans on doing in the US, and that was pretty much it. He was then told he was approved and received a slip which told him congratulations and what to expect in the upcoming days as the Visa is being processed.

It took a week and 2 days to receive the stamped Visa in his passport.

Overall it went smooth and there were no problems for him.

Thee time of my interview was at 9:30 am I arrived at the consulate at 9:00 and I was immediately placed in line, the guards that reviewing the documents are rude many people had to do the document review twice because they don’t let you enter with absolutely nothing other than the required documentation. Pay attention and not bring the medical exam cds because we can’t enter with that. Anyway, there are people who keep things in lockers. I had two interviews the first one I give the documents, the oficial consular asked me for pictures with my husband and a lot of care here because it isn’t only to take fingerprints and deliver the documents, she also asked me some questions: how old is my husband, how we met, when was the last time he was in Ecuador, then the consular officer told me to take a seat and wait for the second interview. Once they called me I was lucky that I had a very friendly consular officer smiling and everything was very fast simple questions like where your ... read complete review

We had the appointment at 10:30am. They recommend you arrive 15min early. We arrived around 10:10am and approached the security checkpoint around as we noticed others going in. There weren't many people wanting to go in. It was probably because of the time of the interview. I decided to attend the interview with my fiancée against the advice in previous reviews saying they would not let you in. This is true because as we approached the security check point, I was told that only my fiancée was allowed to enter. I explained that I was the petitioner and wanted to accompany her. They still said no. Still I'm glad I went as I will later explain. At this point she gave me her purse as they would not let her in with it. I stayed outside waiting.
At around 12pm one of the assistants who makes sure all the paperwork is in line with what is needed came out calling my name. She then informed me that I was being called in as they wanted to interview me as well. At this time she also told... read complete review

My wife and I arrived just on time. We left the Guayaquil airport and took a taxi at about 8:30 am and it took the taxi driver about one hour to take us to the consulate (“atajo”).
Once at the consulate, my wife (the petitioner) was not allowed to get in. The guards told us that this is a new policy that was implemented a few weeks ago. I had read in a few reviews people recommending that the petitioner attends the interview. Don´t waste your money. They will not let the petitioner in. We argued for a little while with the guards about my wife´s right to be inside (as an American citizen) but they just ignored what we said.
Once inside (after passing the security check) I waited for about an hour to be allowed to get into the building. Once inside the building, I realized there were too many people applying for resident visas. About 100 waiting.
After about two more hours my name was called to a window. An Ecuadorian woman (dark hair, probably in her 50´s)... read complete review
