Get at least 2 1/2 hrs before your appointment. go to the main gate of the Embassy where the regular applicants make their payments, there you'll go through their security checkups, then you go inside and do another security checkup...then you'll take a ticket, located between windows 12-13, and wait for your number to be call, keep in mind that is only the last two digits of the ticket that are to be called...
Regarding the forms...make sure you have them filled out, signed, and separated. Make sure you only hand out what you are being asked (they lady hat took care of me was respectul, but a little rude). Make sure you have at least two (2) copies of each paperwork you submit. Also, your birth cercificate and the criminal background are apostilled by the entities in Venezuela (this is better explained in the US embassy website), and the four (4) pictures (in Venezuela you'll ask to have VISA size pictures, 5 cm by 5 cm. The interview it self was very easy, though it made for a very long day. The interview was set for 9:00 am, but based on my fiancee's experience with the American Consulate, we went at 7:00 am. It was unnecessary, as we did not need to go through the same process as the B1/B2 visa filers. They gathered us together (all the family immigrant visa filers I assume) and brought us in at 9:00 am. We were each processed one at a time. They review our paperwork and we had to pay the filing fee (forgot off the top of my head what it was, but it was cheaper then the fee normally used on this site. I remember there is a lot of confusion on the Venezuela consulate page as to what the fee is exactly. I would bring enough to cover the most expensive option, and then be pleasantly surprised. Remember to bring bolivars to cover the cost of the DHL shipping.) Interview day was very easy we arrived at 9:00 for our interview at 9:30. We got right in through security chose a number and were called to the window 20 minutes later. The officer requested the copy of our marriage and birth certificates then asked us to have a seat and he would call us back. Ten minutes later we were called back to the window and were given a paper telling us to come back at 1:30 for the main interview. We then left and came back around 12:45 just a little early. An officer took our letter and stated he would call us in just a few minutes.(this man was very nice and spoke great english)The man then called us 10 minutes later and told us to go to window 15. We preceded to the window and a nice lady who spoke both english and spanish asked me my name and asked me to have a seat and she would call me back in just a few minutes.
