I arrived at 10am for a 10:30am appointment (this was after spending 30 minutes in Pret and a further 30 minutes walking around the embassy just to kill some time).
When you first walk up, it's a tent and they'll want to see your DS-160 and passport. Then you'll go through airport style security before entering the actual embassy building. Keep your DS-160 and passport out as the receptionists will want to see that. They'll assign you a number and stick it to your DS-160 before telling you to go to level 1 and then turn left, left again.
The room you turn into has booths along the side and a seating area in the middle with a TV screen that shows you when your number is called.
The first time you're called up, it's pretty much just to hand in documents and confirm some information. I got a trainee who was just as nervous as I was and had two people shadowing over him.
I was asked for:-
1. Birth certificate (original - you get this back at the... read complete review

Great overall experience!
Arrived at 8.25am for 9am appointment. Was told to wait 5/10 mins before going in. I would always get the here early as some people get in early depending how busy it is.
Sat down upstairs, was the first ticket number called. Was asked to handover
- 1 Passport photo
- Passprt
- Interview confirmation page
- Birth certificate
- ACRO police form
- Affadavit of support (with supporting evidence - I had LOE, 2 pay stubs and last years tax return, didn’t need the tax return as Fiancee was a student last year)
I had my fingerprints taken, and I was handed an envelope with Xrays disc in.
Told to sit back down till I was called again.
10 mins later I was called up, took finger prints again and asked some questions
- how did you and your fiancé meet? University - then asked if it was over here or in America.
- how long ago did... read complete review

My interview was at 9.30am, it turned up at 9am as instructed on the guidance email. I went through security and then it was straight to the first window. Here I had to show all of my original copies of the civil documents I had submitted. I was then told to wait for my number to be called again. It was called after five minutes, if that, at the second window I was asked a few questions
Where does your husband live?
Did he grow up in that city?
What does he do for work?
What do you do for work?
Then we had a laugh at the fact that I had uploaded a document from my work computer which didn't make any sense. Then we were laughing at a funny photo we had submitted in our relationship evidence.
In total it took twenty minutes tops!
It was fast, friendly and I really enjoyed the experience!
I was nervous beforehand as my husband sponsored me with assets not in income as he isn't currently working. But it was all fine and I had n... read complete review

Review submitted on behalf of my Fiancee who had interview today:
Queued up outside with 10 people, it was bitterly cold morning, expected at this time of the year, so make sure to wrap up warm.
Once you get to the front, the security lady asked to see Ds 160 and passport.
(If you arrive too early, they direct you to Waitrose and ask that you return 15 mins before interview time)
After the security check outside, you enter airport style security building, where you are given containers to put bags, valuables and coat. Asked to empty out pockets. Then you enter body scanner. I had a bottle of water in my bag and was asked to take a sip it in front of the security man.
You then walk through a courtyard to get to reception. There are 2 queues, go to the visa queue. The receptionist asked to see passport again and Ds 160. She puts a sticker on your Ds 160, of your number and the window to go to. She told me to proceed to ... read complete review
