Interview was at 8.00 on 26th August. I arrived at the Embassy at about 7:20 (having first stopped at Goulds' to drop off my electricals), and there was a line, but probably no more than 15-20 people at that stage, although that number increased (obviously) time progressed. Got into the Embassy and was assigned a number at about 7:45 and then sat and waited for my number to be called.
My number was first called at about 8.10. I handed over all my documentation (passport, photos, affadavit, police certificates, birth certificate) but found the first lady very difficult to understand as she had quite a strong accent. However, I was treated pleasantly with no issues. Sat back down and..yeah..this wait seems to go on for ever. There are a lot of 'N' numbers, and those seem to be called out all the time, whereas the 'I' numbers were a lot slower. This is what my fiance wrote to me immediately after the interview:
So first things first, I left early and got to Paddington early in case there were any problems with travel or storing my bags and stuff. There weren't any problems and I arrived at Bond Street Station (round the corner from the embassy) at 8:00.
So I loafed around in the station until 8:20 and then zipped off to the embassy! Like half the people in the queue were sent back because they had electronics. derp. But I didn't have anything so I went through pretty quick. I arrived at the reception at 8:29. They looked at my appointment letter and my passport, visually checked I was the same guy as the one photographed in the passport, and then I got given a ticket number and got sent through to the waiting room.
I was given the ticket number I913 *memorized it* and there were TONS of people in there. But almost all of them were for non-immigrant visas (N number... read complete review

My appointment was scheduled for 9.30am on a Tuesday morning. I spent the evening in a nearby hotel at Marble Arch (The Cumberland), I got a great deal and it was a really nice room with plenty of quiet, nice service and amenities, so I would certainly recommend it! I was up at about 7am, and had planned to walk to the Embassy (about 10-15minutes away) but it was pouring down with rain (thank you England), so I got a black cab from outside the hotel instead, which cost me all of £3.60 and got me there in 3 minutes. I was there a little early (but glad to know that I was where I was supposed to be), so I popped down to the Starbucks which is about 3 blocks opposite the Embassy and grabbed some breakfast etc. I joined the line outside the Embassy 8.15am, which was made up of about 15 people at that point - (note: there are two lines that are formed outside the Embassy, the one on the right as you look at the security booths and the building itself is the Visa one (there are signs) and t... read complete review

Interview Review – K1 Visa
USA Embassy, London
Monday 22nd August 9:30am
I flew down to London on the 21st and stayed at The Lancaster Gate Hotel for the night. In the evening I took a walk to the Embassy (approximately 30 minutes walk) to see where it was etc.
In the morning I woke up early, at about 6am and had breakfast etc in the hotel and chose to get the tube two stops to Bond Street, the closest of the tube stops to the Embassy. I walked down Davies Street and Brook Street and arrived at Grosvenor Square and walked up to the Embassy. I arrived early at about 0730am and joined the queue of 20 or so others in the Visa line. The line starts directly outside of the security booth and officials checked my appointment letter, MRV receipt and passport before letting me through into the security booth. I had my interview on 15th August and needless to say, it's finally sinking in that we were approved. Anyway, here goes:
The day started off as any other interview. Turned up on time, left my mobile phone at Gould's and headed to the embassy. It looks like Argos, only with humans instead of boxes. Anyway, after about 2 hours, I was called to hand my papers in at the first window. The guy was ever so pleasant..but that's as far as the niceness of the embassy employees goes. I had what seemed like another 2 hours wait before I was called up again. The CO turned up with my file in one hand and a 221g form in another. My heart sank at that point and I almost gave up because as I put away the papers she gave back, I could see her writing on the form. She questioned me about my citizenship in UK, the discrepancy in my name. This was expected so I calmed down a little and just explained everything to her.
