Here is my fiance's summary:

"Well, in the end, after hours of waiting for a damn number to be called it was basically a breeze. I thought I had forgotten to bring my receipt for payment of the fee, so there was 5 minutes seeing if that could be found on the system... turned out it could... then when he started on the rest of it he found the two receipts I'd printed off anyway, d'oh! Then they make you sit down and wait another while before making you swear or affirm you're not lying through your teeth on the form and won't bald-faced lie to them now, after which she basically just asked how we met, did she meet my parents, are they coming to the wedding, when do I fly. That was it. :-)"

Apparently there was quite a long queue outside and he didn't get in until five til 10:00, then it was about Noon when his number was first called. Aside from the waiting I gather it was relatively painless. :-D

I had my K-1 fiance visa interview today; and 8am one which wasnt welcomed much by me grumbling as i got out of bed at 5am, but besides that I thought i would share my experiences of the dreads interview at the US embassy, London......

I arrived at the embassy early, not too early as i was told not to do so but im glad i did come early as a que quickly formed to enter into the embassy which is rediculously secure in a rather intimidating way. If the peering glance of its very large American Eagle statue on the roof wasnt enough to make you feel a little more than nervous, the police with guns sure did the trick.

On joining the que a lady looked at my appointment letter, asked me if i had phones and such and if so if i could put them somewhere away from the embassy (your not allowed them into the building) i waited in line for about half and hour before i was called to a security guard who checked my passport and ushered me to another que; to enter a small ... read complete review

The interview was pretty straight forward.
We (my fiance and I) got to the embassy around 7:30 for an 8:00 appointment. There was only about 6 people in line ahead of us at that point. It seemed that around 7:45ish (we both forgot our watches) they started letting people in. The lady at the front just needed our letter and our passports and we were on our way. I was shocked by the number of people who got turned away because of phones and other electronic stuff. Went through security and then headed to reception. The lady put a label on the letter that read 8:10 so it took about 25 minutes to get through security. We got to the waiting room and I-901 and I-902 numbers were called. Then there was about 30 minutes where it was all the 'N' numbers being called. Finally the 'I' numbers started to get called again and my fiancee was called. Handed in his paperwork and was told to sit back down. The only complaint he had was that the lady collecting his papers had a thick ... read complete review

My husband had a good interview experience, he arrived around 8am for a 9am interview, he waited outside but then got to go in, he mentioned that the embassy was very busy everyone seemed to have 9am appointments. He waited for some time before his number came up. He was called to the first window and spoke to a cheerful Chinese-American lady who seemed confused that he did not do DCF, maybe she was not used to the NVC path, however he was able to get his documents back. He was given the courier form and was still filling it out when 5 mins later he was called to second window for interview. He spoke with another American lady who asked him when we met, he told a little story and made her laugh, she then asked where I worked, he answered and then was asked when he was leaving for America, and replied that he hadn't made any plans as he wanted to make sure he was approved first. She seemed to like that answer. She then said well go ahead and make plans because I am approving you. My hus... read complete review

Had 8 am appointment, started queuing around 7.15 (and were 4th in line - by 7.30 there already was quite a line). Were called up for the document check around 8.05 as first I number and then got our "interview" a around just before 9. The IO just asked me to sign the DS-230 second part form and asked me when we would get married. As I just had bad news with regards to close family in Germany I explained that I would be spending a few months with my relative and she offered to put the visa on hold until I knew exactly when I was going to be able to travel, but left it up to me if I wanted to do that. Decided to do the visa now anyway and paid for delivery - out again by 9.15.
Was very pleasantly surprised how accommodating they were about my circumstances and no trouble whatsoever. Got a text 2 days after the interview that DX Secure has my passport and is going to deliver 3 days after the interview.
