I woke up at 4:30am to get the train in to London, got to the embassy queue at about 7:30am, there were a good 30 people already there. The queue is a confusing huddle of people right at the front of the building, and it looked like it started in both directions. We started getting let through the security hut at around 8am. I got in to the place, got my number (looks like I was the second I-visa to check in! yay!) went to the loo and then sat down by the screens.

The room is big, with the left side made up of windows so you can look down over the square outside. There's tonnes of rows of chairs on both halves of the room facing towards a row of screens that come up with a big yellow display each time a ticket is called.

After what can only be about 10 mins, my ticket got called and I had to go to window 13. The lady there asked me to identify my packet of paperwork from the photo attached to the front and asked me if the photo was recent. She asked me my... read complete review

Ok, lots of fine reviews already exist on this list, as avidenced by the fact that the information does not vary much from experience to experience. That said, I found it immensely helpful to read each one. However, a few things happened at our interview which I had not noticed before on any reviews (we were very unlucky in one respect) so i'll concentrate on those things as they differ and might set someone else's mind at rest if the same happens to them.

I'll start out though by noting that we WERE approved and I cannot WAIT to be with my Darling after Christmas

So, we arrived at the embassy EARLY only to find despite feeling tremendsouly organised we had neither the DS160 forms on us nor the digital photos required with them. We were infuriatingly sent straight to Gould chemists to fill out the forms. the chemist seemed more like an extended office of the Embassy with tables lined up down one side with laptops and a guy working a ca... read complete review

Good experience overall, only at the embassy for about 2 hours. Staff were friendly and I was only asked a few basic questions in the interview

We flew Easy Jet from Glasgow to London Stanstead, took the Stanstead Express to Liverpool Street Station and got a Zone 1&2 day pass on the Underground. I have a new love of the London Underground-- it is so efficient and easy to get around with. We stayed at the Travelodge in Marylebone-- I would NOT suggest staying here. I wish I had read the poor hotel reviews before hastily booking a room there. We were just in the room long enough to get a 6 hour sleep and we were out for the remainder of the time.

The morning of the interview we got up and got ready-- I left all of our belongings in the hotel. I took only one canvas tote with a crossword puzzle book, a couple of magazines, a pen, our large document folder and our hotel key (which got demagnetized). We walked down Duke Street from Oxford Street and arrived at the first check point (aprox. 8:35am), which is where they check your letter, your passports and check your name off of the list. We were instructed to place ... read complete review

I Left home at 5 am on the 3rd November 2011..I really hadn't slept much for the last few weeks..so it was easy getting up. I chose to drive in and had pre-booked my London waiting fee on line. I arrived and parked the car by 7.15 am, my appointment wasn't until 8 am, but i had read, people getting in sooner. I took my sister with me, and she waited in a nearby cafe with all my electronic stuff.

I know i took so much stuff with me, a complete backpack, photos, all the immigration paperwork in two files.

I got to the embassy at 7.30 am, about 20 people was in front, and typical uk weather it started to rain.

The front security asked for my letter and sent me to the booth..4 at a time go in. No problems here, and headed around the side of the building up the big steps and into the embassy. The receptionist asked for my letter and gave me a number I904!

I sat down and waited. I think it was only maybe 20 minutes till i was ca... read complete review
