My husband said that is was not quite as painful as it could have been! All in all, it went well. I travelled to the UK to attend and had contacted the Embassy prior to notify them I would be at the interview. We dropped off our things at Gould's and walked back to the Embassy. We got to the Embassy about 7:30am (our appointment was scheduled for 9:00am), spent about 15 minutes where a woman from the Embassy came by to check our appointment letter, checked for me on the list (I was), and let us know that we couldn't take in electronic devices of any sort. We went through security, went to the lobby, got our number, and sat in the waiting area.

While we were there, a rather large group of BBC Orchestra members came in as they seemed to be getting visas for a trip to the states. We got called up to Window 1 after about 30 minutes and had the same Chinese lady that other reviewers have mentioned. Unfortunately, we were next to the window with all the musicians and it... read complete review

So here is my experience of today’s interview (9 November 2012).
My husband (petitioner) and I joined the fairly long queue outside the Embassy at 8.30am for my 9am interview. We got into the Embassy and through security fairly quickly. When we stopped at the reception desk we were given the number I910. We took a seat around 9.05 am and were a bit alarmed because all the numbers being called were prefixed with an ‘N’ – not another ‘I’ in sight! To our great relief our number was called at 9.15 am and we went to window 13. A black lady who at first seemed a little unfriendly started going through my papers and said to Theo ‘Do you want to go and pay for Trudi’s visa at the desk whilst we continue with this?’. Yes! Result! Theo got stuck with footing the bill!! Anyway, whilst he was away paying, the lady suddenly looked up with a brilliant smile and said ‘Your hair is lovely – so bouncy and shiny!’. Folks I was so taken aback I immediately start... read complete review

Ade’s appointment was this morning, 9 am. He got there at 8:30. He had the good sense to leave all objects forbidden in his trunk, and put the key in his hide-a-key spot on the car. He left his phone as well. All of these items are forbidden. He had all of his documents in a plastic “Tesco” bag, since back packs, brief cases, and any large containers are forbidden. He noticed when he got in line (or queue as he puts it), there were many people who had phones, iPods, keys, and being turned away. He had to remove his watch, glasses, shoes, belt, and wallet for the scan and security screening. He noticed there were between 150-200 people there waiting in the seats.

No sooner was he through security when he looked up at the board and saw his number was being called! Still holding his belt in his hands, he ran to the window (window 13) and checked in. A chatty, friendly African American woman greeted him and asked for his paperwork. He handed over his documents, and as... read complete review

The interview went well, they asked a lot of questions so make sure you know all the answers about your petitioner and partner. You are not allowed any electrical items of any kind, this includes remote controls for your car and earphones. I forgot about my earphones in my bag and had to throw them away in a dustbin! But I was allowed my hearing aids.

Make sure you get there as early as you can. Apart from that, everything went well and I was approved.

Review Topic: General Review

I thought I'd share my experience as I personally found reading the reviews really helped me prior to my interview.

So I arrived at 7.15am for my 8am appointment. At this point there was a large crowd gathering patiently outside. At approx 7.30 we started being called four at a time inside the security office. At this point our passports, MRV receipts and appointment confirmation letter were being checked. If you are wearing watches belts etc you just take these off whilst you walk through the scanner.

Once inside the building I got my number and sat down patiently. Looking around and taking a moment to see there is an opportunity for all those people who forgot passport photos to have these done, there is a passport photo machine available. I was called to window 13, I know unlucky right, to see an unfriendly black lady. Maybe I was her first one of the morning, but didn't make me feel at ease at all. All he standard routine stuff of handing over passport... read complete review
