Nothing really that different to report from the other VJers; same process of queuing outside, showing interview letter to get in, then handing over MRV receipt once inside where you get a ticket number. As I know you're all fascinated, mine was I926. I waited for 1.5 hours before being called to hand over passport, MRV receipt, birth certificate and copy and police report. General ID questions asked and fingerprints taken. Then given a courier form to fill out for delivery of passport and told to sit back down until my number was called again.
My name was called about half an hour later and went to the window. Asked to fill in her name and sign my name on a form and then I answered general questions:
How we met?
Where?
What does she do?
How will I support myself financially?
A few family questions about hers and mine...
...and then after maybe five minutes he said my visa was approved! Simple. Long wait but really easy but I won't lie to you...you shit yourself sitting there waiting for your number to be called.
If I can offer any advice it would be this.
Make sure you follow all the document checklist on the embassy website and take everything with you.
Don't take any electronics as you won't be allowed in.
It's cold queuing outside, wrap up and take an umbrella if it's raining.
If you're a fidget, take a book or a newspaper as you sit and wait for what seems like longer than everyone else in the room.
And relax; you know your relationship is genuine and they're only doing what you would expect from any embassy. You'll be golden, just don't forget any documents.
And that's it. My interview was scheduled for 10am, I was outside at 9:30, inside around 10am, seen first at 11:30 and was out by around 12:30, I think. I didn't have a watch.
Oh, and another piece of advice: Spoil yourself the night before if you can. I went to an amazing restaurant and spent five hours there and then stayed in a fancy hotel nearby (The Chesterfield) and ended up getting an upgrade to a massive suite for no apparent reason. It will probably be your last adventure in the UK before you fly out so enjoy it in whatever way you can.
And take a pen! You need it for filling in the courier form although they do have spares which I managed to scrounge.
Good luck!
