London CR1 interview
I left my friends flat at 7:00am after triple checking all my paperwork. I arrived at marble arch just before 7:30, and I picked up a chai latte and dropped off my cellphone and key fob at Goulds Pharmacy before waking to the embassy. I had assumed there would be a really long queue, but I just walked straight up to the desk and showed the woman my interview letter and I was directed to the security booth, where I out my bag through the scanner and was told to take a sip of my drink to prove it wasn't dangerous. I walked round the right had side of the building to a set of doors and walked up to a reception type desk where I handed over my interview letter again and the lady stuck a strip of stickers on it all with barcoded and the number I908. Now my interview was only at 9:00am, but I think that when you arrive at the embassy, irrespective of the time of your "actual" interview, you're given the next number along in your visa category and you essen... read complete review

A quick note before I go on - I've heard a lot of people saying the consular interview is easy, that they want you to succeed, they're not trying to trip you up, etc. It's true, and when you really think about it, it makes perfect sense. If you want to keep people out of the US, you join the border patrol. If you want to regulate immigration, you join USCIS. If you want to represent the United States and be the smiling welcoming face, you join consular services.
This morning was easy - by far the easiest part of the entire application process.

ARRIVAL
I arrived at the embassy at 07:05 and was the 9th person in the queue. We lined ourselves up next to the permanent security kiosk but at 07:20 they brought out a little gazebo, set it up right in the middle of the paved area, and had us queue up in front of that. They asked what time my interview was and wanted to see my passport and appointment letter. If it had been applicab... read complete review

My appointment time was 8am. I got there at 7.35, took about 5 mins to get inside, got my number and was seen to within 15mins. Then waited about 45mins for my interview. Straightforward questions, same as previous people.
Where we met
How our relationship developed
How he proposed (did he or did we discuss it)
Where are his family (after I mentioned we went on vacation with them)
We just talked and she said I was approved and that my passport with visa should be ready to collect (I decided to collect) in about 10days.
I'll chase up DX in a week or so if I don't hear anything. The only bad part of my day was my splitting headache this morning which hasn't gone yet. Heading back to bed!

Hi everyone,
I had my interview at the US embassy in London on 29th August and have been approved!!!! I just thought I would add my experience of the process.
TOP TIPs
1. Keep calm and carry on!
Yes I know the whole process is a nightmare but keep on filling in every form, dotting all the i's and crossing all the t's and eventually there are no more forms to fill in and you get to the interview.
2. Dont sweat the small stuff!
If you are like me and have spent hours worrying about a form you have sent in, whether or not you put the right date on, or even signed it, or did it get delivered, or whatever.... then don't worry. I made a whole pile of little errors (including being 2 years out on my sons d.o.b. lol) but was still approved.
3. Take 2 big envelopes
Envelope 1 - should have everything in it that it says to take on the list that you get online when you receive your appt letter.... read complete review
