My fiance had his interview in London today (Thursday, Sept. 19th) at 8:00am. Here's the basic rundown:
7:00am - Left his house and walked to embassy (grabbed breakfast en route)
7:40am - Arrived at embassy
8:00am - Through security and immediately called to window
8:25am - Called to second window
8:40am - Visa approved and headed home
9:00am - Called me to tell me!
Pre-Embassy:
Very simple. He lives close by so it was no stress getting there. Line for security was very long, but moved quickly. Showed his interview letter and passport, emptied pockets and went around to the right through the door.
Interview:
Immediately was called to window and presented his documents. The man was very friendly and joked with him about why he'd want to move to Los Angeles as traffic is horrendous. Asked for his passport, birth certificate, police report, and passport photos. He signed a document with my name and the photos, but the photos were then returned to him. They asked for the I-134, but he informed them he was self-sponsoring. He showed them his bank accounts, portfolio and property valuation and they agreed it was all fine.
He was asked when he anticipated flying and he told them in a week. They noted this on his file.
He sat back down in the waiting area for a few minutes before getting called to the second interview. The woman swore him in and asked him basic questions (where'd we meet, how do we keep in touch, etc.). After a short while, she said "I'm going to approve your visa". So he skipped home happily to call me.
Overall, he said it was painless and super efficient. We are both thrilled, obviously javascript:emoticon(' ')
