My appointment was at 8am. I currently live an hour outside London, so I got a 6am train to Charing Cross and then got a bus from there to Selfridges on Oxford Street at 7am. I got to Gould's for about 7:25 and dropped off my phone. The process took a tiny bit longer than I expected - they sit you down at a little table and make you sign and spell your name before sealing a packet and taking you to the till to pay.
Then I went to the Embassy and waited in the first queue. They asked for my letter and passport, then waved me to the next queue. Then we got directed through the airport-style security four at a time, and walked through to the Visa entrance of the Embassy.
Once inside, the reception was like any corporate building. The receptionist asked for my letter and directed me to the waiting room. The room was like a town hall, with non-permanent chairs all facing forward and a ramshackle cafeteria. I was i-901 and called up straight away, where a young ... read complete review

(Sorry, this is super long, but I appear to have had a slightly different experience to the norm...)
We arrived at 7.50am after dropping our stuff off at the pharmacy, the queue was very short. My fiance’s name was handwritten at the bottom of the printed list they have outside (we emailed in advance and got confirmation within 2 days that he could come with me - thanks to Anna on this site for her advice)
Advice on going through Security – DON’T take your handbag if you’re anything like me and have loads of stuff in there that you’d forgotten about (eg: headphones, old USB key, heated eyelash curler) – take a small bag with only the things you need for the day.
We were ticket number I909 and waited about an hour for the first interview, and another 45 minutes for the second interview – mainly, I think, because of my handbag issues…
Interiew 1 – nice American guy, very friendly. He congratulated me on o... read complete review

After dropping off my phone etc at the pharmacy I arrived at the embassy around 7:15 (my appointment was at 8:30). There was a queue already, which was then separated into two. I then got my passport checked by the security guy, and went through to the security hut to have my bag scanned (just like at the airport!) I was then through into the embassy building. Walked up the stairs and into reception, was given my waiting number and directed to the left waiting room.
Once in, you take a seat and wait for your number to pop up on the screen. At the top of the waiting room there is a tuck shop with food and tea/coffee but I was far too nervous to go up and get anything!
After waiting around 20 minutes or so, my number flashed up on the screen. I had the unfortunate pleasure of being sent to booth 1, with the unfriendly Asian lady. She was extremely quiet, and had a habit of chucking back forms and papers at me once she was satisfied with them. I had my passpo... read complete review

K1 Fiancé Interview: Tuesday 10th September 2013, 8AM
**Bit of background info**
- I’m of Indian origin but British Citizen (the only passport I have had)
- I was born in India but only lived there a few years as a toddler/kid
- We were repeatedly told by many VJ’ers that we would go into AP for at least a month or more. So we prepared for the worst…but no need as we were approved and issued the visa within 10 days!
Now onto the interview…
Got there at 7.20, in queue for security for about 10-15 mins and in through the waiting area about 7.40 (they took my watch etc. so I had to check the TV for times)
I was the third in line for Immigrant visa so not too much of a wait.
Got called up to Window 1 (there are 16 window I think); the lady asked for my passport, photos, birth cert, police cert, support forms. I gave her the affidavit, and the employer letter - that’s all she wanted and waved... read complete review

My fiance had his interview in London today (Thursday, Sept. 19th) at 8:00am. Here's the basic rundown:
7:00am - Left his house and walked to embassy (grabbed breakfast en route)
7:40am - Arrived at embassy
8:00am - Through security and immediately called to window
8:25am - Called to second window
8:40am - Visa approved and headed home
9:00am - Called me to tell me!
Pre-Embassy:
Very simple. He lives close by so it was no stress getting there. Line for security was very long, but moved quickly. Showed his interview letter and passport, emptied pockets and went around to the right through the door.
Interview:
Immediately was called to window and presented his documents. The man was very friendly and joked with him about why he'd want to move to Los Angeles as traffic is horrendous. Asked for his passport, birth certificate, police report, and passport photos. He signed a document with ... read complete review
