While the process was long and rather boring, it all went very smoothly and the staff were direct, informative and helpful.
For anyone going in here are a handful of pointers:
1, if your US resident fiance is in-country, call a week in advance and add them to the visitor list. With a passport, they can come in and wait with you (and help carry all the papers and info!) offering moral support and someone to talk to during the long wait, even if they can't come into the interview space with you.
2, you can't bring a big bag or phones or laptops(it's sort of like airport security when going in), but we brought a big bottle of water a book and a packet of snacks in our hands and it made all the difference during the wait (about 3 hours on the day we went).
3, you can ask questions during the interview -- this helped us feel clearer about our next steps and what will happen at the border when we could talk to someone face-to-fac... read complete review

I flew into London on the 18th for my fiancé's Visa Appointment at the US London Embassy on the 19th. We reviewed all the paperwork and documents we had collected over the months to be sure we had everything and were familiar. We stayed in a hotel about a 20 min walk from the embassy. When we arrived around 8:00 for our 8:30 appointment time, there was a small line in which we joined. We were asked to have the beneficiary's DS160 and passport out. Apparently I had not added myself to the list but spoke with the woman checking us in and explained that I am the petitioner and have travelled from the US to attend. She was very nice and added my name onto the list and made a quick phone call informing someone that I was coming in after checking my passport. We went through the airport-like security line and into the embassy. There were already many people seated so we waited for our number to be called. The first window we went to, the gentleman was very friendly and took several document... read complete review

Appointment was scheduled for 9:30. Cleared security in 5 mins and was waiting for biometrics to be done for 2.5hrs. Then took a seat and waited for 40 mins. My ticket was called, after a relaxed and friendly 10-15 min chat... Visa approved. Happy days

Had our interview today and both approved to go.
My husband and I had our interviews scheduled for 8:00 am. We arrived at the Embassy at 7:20 and there were quite a few people queuing up already, but the line was moving well. Once we'd had our names ticked off by the lady at the front of the left hand queue, we joined the back of the right hand queue. This line moved quickly and we were soon at the front and called over to the security guard to check our passports. Then we joined the smaller queue to go through security. We had left all our electronic things in our suitcase at the hotel, so no problems there, and we had put our watches in my handbag, and Derek wasn't wearing a belt - so no problem through security.
Then round to the right and into the Embassy to get a number - we had 1 number for both of us - I903. We sat down in the waiting room at around 7:50 and had been called to window 13 by 8:05. It took about 20 mins for the lovely lady to ... read complete review
