This is my review of my K-1 experience at London, if you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact me by personal message.

I stayed in the Leonard Hotel which was an easy 15 minute walk if you walk slowly. It cost £140, and I could quite happily say that £110 was for the location. I had a pretty bad sleep, so I decided to walk down a little earlier than I originally intended, and I am now happy that I did.

I arrived at the embassy at a few minutes before 7am, and I was 5th in line. By 7.15, there was easily 30 people behind me, and I couldn't even describe how many people were there at 7.30.

They started setting up the security gate at just before 7.30, and started to let people in about 7.35. The two girls are pretty snappy, but I don't blame them, as there was a lot of people, and there were a few slow movers not doing what they were told. Went in through security, phones are allowed, tablets and laptops are not.

Got there at 7.45. Queued for 40 minutes to get in.
Another 40 minute wait to hand over my documents.
Another 30 minutes till I had my interview.
The lady who interviewed me kept a uniform expression the whole time so I couldn't gain any hints as to what she might say, a good poker face.

Asked me questions about how we met, when we last saw one another, any immigration issues, about my record, how i would support myself and my current situation.

Said I was approved and smiled and off I went.

Overall pleasant experience, wish I hadn't stressed the entire time as I gave myself a headache but all worth it.

Mobiles allowed. Many people didn't realise.

Additionally stayed at the Lincoln House hotel which was decent for affordable accommodation 10 minutes walk away.

I arrived at the embassy at 7.35 and was faced with two fairly long queues. I was instructed to join the one on the left to check in, and then go to the back of the one on the right to queue up for security. The staff monitoring the queues were asking for anyone with an electronic device with buttons to go over to Gould's, but all others (iPads, kindles without buttons, phones etc) were fine. They were handing out plastic bags and everyone had to put their small electronics and belts inside them.

In the security booth I placed all my items in the tray and went through the metal detector without an issue. The member of staff on the other side of the detector was quite rude, snapping at me to make sure I put my belt on outside. I then ran into trouble trying to open the door and he just looked at me, watching me struggle. I had to ask how to open it and he snapped back 'just pull it!' ( I'd been trying to push the handle down to open it, turns out you just had to pull the ... read complete review

I will try to make this as detailed as possible because I found reading the more detailed reviews more helpful. My interview was for 9am.
My train got into Paddington at 8am (2 hour journey), and the tube line was Bakerloo to Oxford Circus, change there and get off one stop later at Bond Street on the Central line. That tube journey can take about 10-15 minutes but because it was so busy during rush hour it took a litte longer.

I was on the lookout for North Audley street for Gould's Pharmacy as I had an overnight bag to check in, but ended up going down the next street instead so had to slightly double-back on myself.

There was one member of staff checking bags in and the girl in front of me took an awful long time deciding whether to bring her lipgloss and mascara with her into the building (yes, really!) so that when I joined the queue for the Embassy it was 8:45am.

It was very busy outside, and even though the line was long when I... read complete review

I filed for my K-1 visa in early September 2013 and my interview was on Tuesday 11th February 2014.

I live in Bethnal Green in East London, so did not have to worry about an early morning train into London or getting a hotel or anything like that. I left my flat at 6.15am and got the Central Line directly to Bond Street. I usually cycle to and from work and around the city so don't get the tube often, but my naivety told me that it would be quiet. I was wrong. The tube was busy even that early in the morning.

I got to Bond Street at about 6.45am and went for some much needed coffee. I went to Gould's Pharmacy for opening at 7.15am to check in my bag and phone. Waiting their met a gentleman from Ghana named Johnson who was getting a tourist visa. Chatting with him while waiting for Gould's to open really calmed my nerves, so I was thankful for the company. When Gould's opened I went to check in my bag and phone, however I was told that phones are now allo... read complete review
