It was such an easy process, worse part was that we were a lucky pair to get to wait for 3 hours - but I think that was because we were end of the day processing. Which in some ways is nice because there weren't any lines. His appointment was at 130 and they wouldn't let us in until 1 (others have said that they were able to get in a couple of hours before their interview).
We were given our number from the receptionist, and went to the waiting area. There were hundreds of chairs, so no issue there. Around 150 we went to the counter and handed over everything. I forgot the DS260 confirmation and was worried about that, but he never asked for it and it didn't seem to be an issue. He took the paperwork, one pile of originals and one of copies. Took my hubby's fingerprints on a scanner and his photos we provided. The only documents he needed were literally the ones on the checklist from the embassy. For the I-864 I included my form, three precious years tax transcripts, an... read complete review

We had our interview today! A little bit of background: I'm the petitioner, from America, and my fiancée (beneficiary) is British, we both live in Osaka, Japan. We applied for a K1 fiancée visa.
We were worried about how the interview would go, (especially as we had to make a trip to Tokyo, as the Osaka embassy doesn't do interviews for the K1 visa, which was kinda expensive!) but it ended up being pretty quick and painless.
The instructions said to arrive no more than 15 minutes before the appointment time, and said that only the beneficiary will be allowed into the waiting room for the interview. However, once we got there, they said I could enter if I had brought my passport (which was sitting at home in Osaka), and we also arrived 45 minutes before the appointment time and they let us in no questions asked.
Here's my fiancée's account of the appointment experience:
I was in such a stress on the day that I left my book and purse with my fiancé... read complete review

Before I write this I want people to know that there is no need to worry or be nervous at the interview. It isn't as scary or bad as you think it is!
So I got to London by 10am and when passing the embassy to go to wait in Starbucks there was a huge queue outside at the white tent so I was really nervous I would have to wait or something. But I waited till 11:10am before going to the embassy. Thankfully the huge queue had gone and I waited behind two people and then handed the lady my passport, DS-160 and appointment letter. She wrote something on the DS-160 and checked my in on her tablet and then give me a clear bag for my phone and sent me to the small security box. I was greeted by a very polite man who asked me to place my file and stuff in the scan box thing and I went through security with no problem and then walked up the left side of the building and went to the front desk and handed her the things I gave the woman at the tent and they printed a sticker and stuc... read complete review

My interview was at 12:30.
I arrived at the embassy about 11:30 and was the only person in the queue at the white tent! I presented my interview letter and the lady wrote a number on it. I then went across to the security hut and handed over my passport before entering. Inside, they scanned my bags and I walked through the "airport" style scanner. After that, I walked round the side of the embassy and up the stairs to the left. At reception, the lady checked my interview letter and put a sticker on it with a number on. I was was told to go upstairs and sit at the front of the room. It took about 25 minutes for me to be called to the first window and was greeted by a pleasant American gentleman. He asked for:
Confirmation of the courier for the return of my passport
My Original Birth Certificate
My Original Police Certificate
My Original Marriage Certificate
2x Passport Photos
I had my fingerprints taken - both han... read complete review

It was slow getting into the Embassy. They ask you to be there at a certain time, but then only allow entry to people who are waiting for visitors visas, not immigrant. I arrived on time, but had to wait around 30-45 minutes before I was allowed to enter (I was 3rd in line, so not so bad). After clearing security, I was given my number at the desk, then entered the hall and took a seat. My number was first called after about 30 minutes. At this desk in the main hall, the lady checked all my information and instructed me to sit back down until called by an Immigration Officer.
After another 20 minutes, I was called again, this time to a window around the corner in a much quieter part of the Embassy. The gentlemen here had my file (which was about 2-3 inches thick). I noticed some government agency logos on some of the files that did not belong to the State Department... The man asked for my documentation, looked through it and then asked ONLY 3 questions. (1) How did yo... read complete review
