Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

This is a review of our experience with the London Embassy.

Unlike a lot of the reviews I've read we are IR1 DCF. I am the American Citizen wife and have lived in the UK for 11 yrs after receiving my Indefinite Leave to Remain in the UK.

We were delayed in making our appointment waiting for results from Knightsbridge due to some complications with my husbands x rays. He had to have the full TB panel done, which took an additional 6-8 weeks. During that time we could have gone to interview but there was no guarantee they would let my husband keep his passport and we needed to travel back to the US during September with or without his visa in place. So we made the choice to cancel our appointment and reschedule for the 10th of Oct.

We arrived at London Victoria around 9 am and made our way via the tube toward the Embassy, thank you google maps!

When we arrived we saw the blue VISA's tent at the side of the building next... read complete review

I attended the London US Embassy last week for a K1 & K2 Interview. We got to the embassy at around 11.45 for our 12.30 appointment time. We stored our overnight bag at Gould's Pharmacy (just down the road from the embassy) which cost £3. PLEASE NOTE: You can take your phone to the embassy but chargers, headphones, laptops, tablets etc. cannot be taken in with you. It was too early for our appointment so we spent about 15 minutes in the park next to the embassy.

At 12pm, we walked back and there is a blue tent outside the embassy where a lady was stationed who you will give your name and appointment letter/confirmation to, she then puts a sticker on the paperwork and will direct you to the small security building. Here you will go through the metal detector and your bag, wallet, coat etc. will be through the scanner. Once that's all clear, they will let you through to the actual embassy building.

We walked in and gave the letter to the front desk, they... read complete review

Yesterday I arrived at the embassy at 12.10 but my appointment was at 12.30 so i wasn't too sure if i was to early so i went to the blue tent and asked the lady stood there, she said that i was able to go in. She asked for either my DS-160 or the confirmation letter for my appointment so i gave her the DS-160 and she signed it and told me to go into the security room.

I has to press a button outside to let them know i needed letting in, I then put my coat, bag and phone in the tray and walked through the metal detector and was good to go into the embassy.

When you first walk in there is a reception desk this is where you will give them the piece of paper the first person signed outside and the person at reception will put a sticker on the paper with your number, then you'll walk into the main hall.

Imagine it like a really big post office, on your left it's row after row of what i describe as airport seats and then on your right is 11 windo... read complete review

I had my interview scheduled for 1pm on Thur. It was fairly quiet when I arrived at the blue visa tent outside the embassy at 12pm. I was greeted by a nice lady who told me to come back in about 30 minutes. I came back around 12:35pm I gave my consulate letter and passport which she wrote on and handed back to me, she then directed me to a door where I went through security. Upon entering the embassy I was given a sticker with a number on it and asked to sit and wait for my number to be called. My number was called after about 5 minutes, I went to the booth and handed in the documents they asked for which were: Passport, birth cert, courier info, DS 160 barcode, 1 134, tax return and a photograph. The very nice gentlemen then handed me a copy of my x ray on disc and told me to be seated and wait to be called by a consular officer. I waited about 45 minutes and then was called to a different booth. I was asked to swear to tell the truth and answered several questions about how we met, ... read complete review

My interview was scheduled on a Friday at 12:30 BST. I arrived around 12:00, sat around in the park opposite until about 12:10 and walked over to the gazebo that says Visas. I was the only person there, I thought I had the embassy to myself.

Here they checked my passport and interview confirmation and sent me to the security booth. Airport style, take of belt and put everything in your pockets in the tray, walk through and out. Very quick again, since I was the only person.

Walked in, lady at reception checked my interview confirmation and passport again, gave me a sticker with an "I" number on and then I walked into the waiting room.

So this is where all the people are, I was not the only one after all, that room was pretty much full, but I haven't even found a seat yet and I heard a "bing" on the big screen and my number was up.

This was the first window, just checked passport again, interview confirmation, did my fingerprin... read complete review
