The process was far less daunting than I expected.

My main recommendation is ensure all your paperwork is in order and that you have a copy of everything you need on you! Emphasis on the police record, partners Tax returns/affadavit. Make sure all of this is with you.

I did feel nervous because it is such an important occassion. At window one, you have your documents taken and checked, and fingerprints taken. At window two you go through some questions about the relationship (My questions were: when did you marry? what does your partner do? how long did you live together in London? how long has your partner been back in the USA?)

The staff are very nice, they're very straightforward and helpful.

They were really nice. My fiance came with me but they didnt need to see him. They didnt even look at most of the documents I brought. You get called up to give someone your documents, then you sit back down. Then a nice woman interviewed me and asked me a few questions about how we met and why I moved to LA in the first place and that was it! She said congrats I was approved!

My interview wasn’t scheduled for 12.30 and I was super early! I don’t live in London, so I was staying with an old friend who lives in Putney and got into Green Park station and walked about 15 minutes. Because I had a large bag, I had to find a place to keep it for the duration of the interview, as they don’t allow you to take large suitcases in. I went to Gould’s pharmacy down the road, and was charged £8 as I had a large bag and a laptop, as well.

Outside of the embassy, I saw a blue tent that said visas on it and approached the young girl behind the counter. I told her I was here for my k1 interview and my name. She asked me for my embassy letter and my passport, and told me to buzz at the security door. Here, they just want to make sure you don’t have any large weapons or anything on your person or your luggage and then I walked around the corner into the main building.

I approached the reception and repeated m... read complete review

I had my K1 interview on Tuesday 17th Oct. at the London Embassy. I arrived at around 12:45 (interview at 13:00) after a horrendous time with train delays in the north of England. I stored my things at Goulds Pharmacy on the same street as the Embassy for £3. I was advised by them that I didnt have anything prohibited anyway (even though I had chargers, cables, headphones, power bank etc) but didnt want to risk being late if I was sent away from security screening.

After I stored my bag I approached the lady in the tent outside and gave her my DS-160 receipt and my passport. She crossed me off her list and sent me over to the officers opposite. The officers were joking around with me a little about how young I am (?) and sent me to the security check. Its just like an airport clearence excpet much quicker (no queue). Then I walked around the outside of the building, up some big steps and inside the embassy. I handed the guy (very nice Londoner) my passport and DS-160... read complete review
