Review Topic: K1 Visa

We arrived at the Consulate at 6 am even though our appointment was at 8:30. There was only a police officer guarding the gate and he told us there is no need to wait there, since they don't really form a line. He said it was fine to get there 5 of 8 and we should be fine. There is a pastry shop across the street that had served breakfast and we spent some time there. When we cam back to the gate, we realized there was a line formed already but once the gate was open, the attendant split the line and told non-immigrants to go across the gate and wait. He collected the passports from us and went back inside.
I told him that I wanted to be allowed in with my fiance but he said If I he had "plus 1 " noted by his name (my fiance) then I can go in. I have e-mailed the consulate ahead of time for permission but they have not returned a reply. Even though I tried to be pushy, I was not allowed.
Azad came out about 2 hours later. He said the attendants were very helpful in showing what to do and where to wait etc. He said a lady (American) in Turkish asked him to give only some of the proof of our relationship. She took a couple photos ( she preferred they included family), emails, Skype and phone records and transferred them inside to another office, assuming to be given to the interviewing officer. We had a file almost 2" thick, but the lady told Azad they did not need to see all that. Oh well.
When he was called, since he doesn't speak English, the officer started asking questions in Turkish. He said her Turkish was very clear and understandable. He was asked when and how we met, what I do in US, what he plans to do when he gets here, what date we intend to marry. Very few questions and she mostly looked at a screen and kept a very firm face the whole time. After a minute or so of silence, she said congratulations, you are approved, have a nice trip.
He then went to UPS counter and paid for shipment and came out to give me a big relief hug.

Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

WE WERE APPROVED!! It is 3:45 am my time, but I was too excited to go to sleep so I decided to come here to do a quick report.

Appointment was at 10 am, but he arrived at 8 am. His interviewer had our entire package and my husband noticed that the CO had already written "approved" on our petition.

CO asked where we met, how long we were together before we were married and asked him what did I do on the ship all of those months while he was working. He liked his CO. The only bump we had was when the CO told my husband that he could not accept the W2 that he printed out because the ink was low, but that it was alright because a copy was already included in the package. The entire interview took about 5 minutes.

As a side note, the CO wrote a note on our package that said to cancel his B2 visa and issue the I551 (or something like that).

Review Topic: General Review

At the beginning of all a lawyer told me that the case could take 3 to 5 months to finished, but the truth was other one. I sent to the USCIS twice the I-130 case. The 1st time was rejected just bcz the address in Puerto Rico was in the order they wont it. By that, the case delayed one month and half when I received the notification bcz they cut part of my address.
At the 2nd time, I searched an immigration program from my county government and they filled correctly. The case took 3 and half months to be accepted.
I thought that the was concluded when I read careful the notification.
So... the process in the NVC was initiated and I didn't know what to do in that moment. The only resource that I found was VJ and was asking to the same members how to get information about the complete process bcz here exist so much forums and topics that sometimes confused me. But I got it...
We request an EXPEDITE to the USCIS and they response that they cant do anything in that moment bcz the NVC had the case. We sent to the NVC the EXPEDITE request and then received a letter that our case cant not be able to obtain the EXPEDITE bcz we didn't provide the evidences.
We sent the evidences and the continued refusing the EXPEDITE consideration until we wrote to them very seriously about it and request then to specify in simply way to us what and how they wanna the information. After they provided us that information, they didn't approve it.
We did the payments by net... Sent the papers by post mail bcz the aren't accepting send the I-864, DS-230 and the scanned evidences by net. No matter if u will carry the originals to the interview, bcz anyway all need carry the copies and originals documents to the interview in a portfolio.
So, the NVC for the minimal thing will tell u, like us, to send to them again the document fixed by post mail and they will take 20 labor days to open the envelope for check them. That occurred us 2 times. So we lost so much time.
After that... the Embassy accepted the case in EXPEDITE, but they didn't notify us by email about it.
We got the information bcz called the NVC and they notified us that they finished with the case and the Embassy accepted the EXPEDITE but they didn't know about the interview date. Would take 30 days to appear in calendar.
Well, in another mission... We found the link to can check the list of the date´s interview by cases. At the 1st time we didn't find our case in the list. If we don't check at last of that week that list, my husband would lose that appointment bcz the Embassy putted the case a Thursday, I saw in the list in Sunday and the interview date was in Friday. My husband immediately wrote to the Embassy in that early morning Monday and the Embassy respond 2 hrs later to confirm that the appointment was in that day of that week(Friday). So, in the same day at night my husband traveled 10 hrs in bus to get an emergency appointment to can do the medical requirements. Thanks to God that he got it and in the day of the interview he had everything in his hands.
In that day, He was there half hour before the appointment and he was the 1st in the list to have the interview.
In the gate, they guards called him. He says that everything in the lobby appears rude, but inside the people who attend are very polite. After be inside, they called his number and He gave the portfolio to the personal for verify all the evidences. He waited like 20 minutes until they called him back to start the interview.
The personal who attended him was cordial and very polite. She requested at the 1st time to He promises to say all the evidences were truth. Then the interview started.
She asked him how we meet and how long it took to meet each other face to face. How long why talked by net (days and hrs). In what we were working at that moment. If we were married before. And then she said that everything seems real and approved the CR-!.
The interview was in English, but if u don't know the language u can request that the interview be in your main language. You must look always cordial, sympathy, in calm and polite.
