Review Topic: K1 Visa

Her appointment was at 7am. She arrived at embassy at 7:45am as attorney told her too. Her paperwork was turned in at 8am and she begin her wait. She was the third girl to be called. Her interview ended up being at 10am. The interviewer was a Japanese male. Not the Japanese woman that has been doing a lot of the interviews lately. I found out later that this was his FIRST day. He asked her several questions:
1)How did you meet?
2)What does your fiancee do for a living?
3)Did he kneel when he ask you to marry you?
4)What was the name of the place were you had your engagement party?
5)How many times has your fiancee been married?
6)Have you been married before?
7)Where does your fiancee work? What company?
8)How many times has he visited?
9)Does your fiancee have any children?

After the questions, the interviewer just said; "I can give you the visa". That was pretty much it. He didn't smile, joke, or congratulate; he was very somber. I don't know what the deal is with BKK embassy. I guess all the interviewers are Japanese now. Don't know if he spoke Thai or not. He only talked to her in English. He asked her several questions twice.
My fiancee told me as the interviews progressed, he was asking even more questions to each girl. It seems since he is new, he still is learning the "trade". My fiancee told me that one of the girls interviewing was rewarded her Visa, however when she came to pick the Visa up, the embassy could not locate some paperwork and she had to get the paperwork before they gave her her Visa. Apparently it wasn't her fault; the embassy lost her paperwork. I think she got it taking care of though.
I will not rate this embassy a 5, simply because of the the interviewer was new and did not know his job too well. Other than that it went ok.

I hope this helps.

I was not able to attend the interview with Chanok but she called me at 859am BKK time and gave me the great news that we had been approved. She arrived there at 7am so the whole process for her was under 2 hours. She said she wasnt nervous at all and the questions were not hard for her.
1.how did you met him ?
2.what website ?
3.how many times has he visited you?
4.what is his job?
5. are you working now? what is your job/

chanok : i think they looked about all evidence after i submit to them because it took about 1 hour later to call me for interview
chanok (8/2/2007 11:43:32 PM): and it has no doubt that we are real fiance so she (officer) was nice to me
There was at least one lady out of the 8-9 that did not recieve visa approval at the time - the reason was her fiancee needed to have sponser and she did not know enough about his job perhaps.
Chanok recieved the Visa envelope 2 days later without any problems.

We are so happy we are done with this step. And will be together soon.
without this website the whole process would have been much much harder. Im very thankful for everyone on here sharing experiences and questions.

We had no problems at all. They forgot to run a name check on Mintra's name change. It was done when she was young and not due to the witness protection program! I had to ask two questions prior to the interview which I did via email and they were answered quickly and professionally. The only other issue we had at the interview was that Mintra is still learning English and the interview was in English. She misunderstood two questions but got through them. The embassy was kind of noisy too. When the woman saw Min struggling a little with English she asked in Thai and she answered right away. With a big smile on her face. She was so nervous. All in all the people at the embassy were very nice and very professional. No complaints at all. How can I complain, we got our visa! BTW, some people seem to have problems with the embassy employees but I'm wondering if it isn't that they are getting what they are giving.

*** Bangkok is now asking for 2 working days to process the visa after the successful interview. Plan accordingly ***

We got to the Embassy at about 6:45am for our 7:00 am interview and I was shocked to see about 70 people lined up outside on the sidewalk. I noticed that no one had the same large packet of X-Rays that we were carrying... so after about 5 minutes, we saw another couple of people go to the front of the line and then go inside...

I went to the front of the line (cut line) and told the lady that we had a 7am appointment. She matched out name and BKK case number and told us to go inside to window #5.

Once inside, we found another line and asked them and they directed us to yet another line through another doorway. (atleast it was air conditioned in there)

Finally in the right place, we stood in line at window #5 for about 30 minutes as the one (1) lady collected everyone's material from packet 3 and handed back unneeded documents (I had a nice cover page - which was returned) On my cover page I explained that I was including the employer's letter and bank info only for the I-134 paperwork... and that I had tax returns and pay stubs if necessary.. but it was approved with out these...

For proof of the relationship, I only included 4 pictures. No emails, no phone receipts, (but I had them incase they wanted to see them)

The lady at the window took the materials (asked for her original birth certificate) and said to wait until our name was called.)

and so ... the wait began

We waited from 7:30 until 11:15... then we were called.
We went to the window. Suphee was asked if she wanted to speak in Thai or English. Suphee said Thai (I hoped she would have said english since I was standing there...) SHe was asked:

1. Where did we meet
2. Where do you work (Suphee not me)
3. What do you do (Suphee not me)
4. How many times did I come to visit her
5. How long did I stay when I visited

Meanwhile, I looked down and noticed that the application already had "approved" on the top of the page so I relaxed a little...

When they finished asking her the questions, they asked me in english:
1. When did I come to Thailand
2. How long did I stay when I came

Then it was kind of funny... The lady at the window asked me:
"How will you communicate with each other?"

I said "In English of course... her English is very good, she is just nervous and preferred to answer in Thai to make sure she understood EXACTLY what you were asking..."

She laughed and said no problem... I know she will enjoy the trip...

Then she said:

"Come back on Monday (2 business days) after today to pick up her passport..."

I told her I had $2500 of tickets booked for Saturday... and she said hmmmm.... She went back to the back and returned about 4 minutes later and said that they would do everything possible to get it done for the next day and to check back on Friday... otherwise pick it up on Monday....

YEAH>>>> they had it today and we picked it up at 3:00 pm and just finished packing for the trip...

Soo.... plan on 2 days... I told her that I had only given it one since everything online said pick it up the next day... she said recent "new" security concerns had moved it to a 2 day process... I told her I would post the new info online... she said thanks...

OVerall.... Long 4 hour wait... but worth it...

The new interviewer is very critical while interrogating my fiance about his previously denied b1/b2 visas she just unceremoniously dropped the line of questioning and granted his visa
