The consular who interviewed us was the same woman that I'd been emailing previously about our situation, and she was really great. We'd assembled a thick pile of documents and photos and joint bank accounts and ultrasounds of my pregnancy, so we waited from about 7:30 am or so for nearly 2.5-3 hrs., then they finally called my fiance's name. We both went up, and the consular was there with a female translator, and they had him sworn in and then I signed my affidavit of support in front of the consular, and they asked my fiance just one question about how we met. He gave a lengthy explanation in Thai about how we met at his home, since he built a skatepark there and I wanted to go skateboarding, and then the translator just replied "Skateboarding." "Skateboarding?" the consular asked., and then said, "Okay." Then she asked us how soon we could get my fiance's police clearance later. She felt bad we'd have to go back to Samui and then back to Bangkok again. She also said to tel... read complete review

Everything went so smoothly; only 3 basic questions as our paperwork was perfect and no outstanding issues: 1) Where did you meet your fiance? 2) When did you meet your fiance? 3) How many times has your fiance been to Thailand to see you? THAT'S IT!
Scene at the Embassy's a bit crazy until you get inside the air conditioned area. Unfortunately there are no signs instructing Immigrant Visa Applicants to proceed to the front of the line for entry through security screening, but one of the staff members walked down the line and told everyone holding x-rays that they could move ahead (much to the chagrin of the non-immigrant applicants who'd been waiting for some time!) and avoid the huge wait outside the Embassy walls. Once inside you just keep moving until you're inside in the air con -- proceed to window 5 and give them your complete file. Once they verify all is there you have a seat and wait for your name to be called. All in all we arrived at 7 a.m. and were ou... read complete review

Interviewed went great. Our docs were perfect. A few simple questions & we were done.
The actual visa is picked up two days later at 3 pm.
The officer was fantastic to work with. Great attitude & had done a good job being prepared.
Embassy staff very helpful as well.

interview day process very slow. arrived 730am reviewed paperwork 1030am.they said we have to wait until end of day to discuss an issue with us about paperwork. they needed final divorce decree from the court. we had it but they didnt explain or leave us enough time to produce it for them. we had it with us but they wanted to go to lunch and said to come back 5 days later to resubmit. when we went back to resubmit no questions were asked . they just gave us the ok. now not enough timeto go japaneese embassy to aquire transit visa because i had to be back to work. so we flew nonstop bkk-lax. Lax very easy and quick immigration. arrived lax late, next morning flew sfo. 3 weeks to aquire ss card. my wife likes california. it is nice to have her here and not have to fly bkk every month. we plan going back in january. thank you visa journey for helping me with good info and advice

I have found the embassy to be non responcive to all requests for info. I get no answer at all to any questions.
They choose to just let us sit here & wait to see what & when they will do something about our case which they have had now for 3 weeks now.
They have sent us absolutly nothing in the mail after sending email to my wife saying they would do so.
The U S Embassy is a joke & insults the American tax payer.
