Appointment at 7am, we arrived at about 5 till 7am with about 35 people lined on the waiting ramp. On the waiting ramp they made sure all Americans were shewed away from the entire proximity of the building so I went to a coffee shop across the street and shopped a market down the street for even more coffee (0 sleep for both of us).

She waited at #5 window with the other K-1, K-3 and vacation petitioners. She was second after waiting 2 hours and was called in by a farang "pretty, young lady not wear make up" to stand at the interview bank-teller's style window (open design with no privacy).

The lady said "Sawatdee ka" and my fiancee did a low wai and responded likewise. She asked my fiancee to hand her the stamper (outside the window from her reach) and said "Thank you" my fiancee said "Welcome" and they smiled at each other "big". The lady looked right into my fiancee's her eyes and said "Everything you are going to tell me will be the truth?" and my fia... read complete review

Interview questions were initially easy. Where did you meet?, when?, how many times I visited? and then they started in on a really strange tangent and they asked for more information. a) documents for name change after a divorce and before the new Thai ID card was re-issued with her previous maiden name. b) Documents for my divorce.

Problem: a)Nat ID card name changes after divorce from married name back to maiden name can happen without std forms and receipts and thus are not available. b) I was never married! and thus I can't supply divorce papers! Amazing.

They gave us a white slip of paper stating the problems above (form 221) and said to come back next Monday between 1 and 3pm with these documents in order to receive an OK for the Visa.

Big Note: you don't have to necessarily wait for the next Monday or Wednesday. It is possible to go back on ANY Monday or Wednesday from 1 to 3 pm to resolve problems with paperwork. Form 221 states... read complete review

The embassy was in flux this spring, and apparently had stopped issuing interview appointments for about 6 weeks. We finally had the interview scheduled for Jun 29 at 8am. Showed up about 1 hour early. There was some confusion about the file - they could not locate the receipt for fee payment $131, which had been mailed in with the Packet 3 as instructed. They were going to send her out to the post office to get a duplicate receipt of payment, and have her come back another day. However they eventually "found" the missing receipt. After that it went smoothly. Routine questions - how did we meet? when? what was my job? when was I last in Thailand? why had I not visited since? did she know I was divorced, and had children? Visa was approved, and ready for pickup 2 days later on July 1.

We got there at 7:30 am for an 8:00 am appointment. The security people would not allow me to stand outside with Puy in the line. I went to Starbucks. Puy had a good experience with the interview. The security people who oversee the doorway s**k.

Consistent with recent reviews, the interviewer was a Thai woman who was pleasant but not cordial. She only asked three or four of the standard questions. She asked when Puy had last seen me, Puy said "today" and the woman said "That's good." Visa approved. Some of the other applicants were not so fortunate, they were missing documents and told to come back in a week.

I understand the need to prevent terrorists from attacking the embassy, but the security people evidently take being officious way too seriously. They should post a list of the 20 or 30 rules that seem to apply on the sidewalk outside. Don't bother trying to wait within 100 yards of the door.
