Review Topic: K1 Visa

Hi guys!
So I had my K-1 Visa interview at the US embassy in Stockholm last week. My appointment was at 8.30 in the morning and I arrived at the embassy around 7.50. It was already plenty of people waiting for non immigration visas but it was only one person waiting in the other line. They opened at 8.00 and called me up almost right away. I walked up to the building where the security was and the officer asked me to show my passport through a window, then he asked me to show my purse and what I had inside, then he asked me to take one step back turn around and show the soles of my shoes. After that he let me inside and that´s where the security check is, it´s pretty much like at an Airport. The officer kept my keys and my phone (which I got back when I left the embassy). The officer then told me to follow the yellow line to the left and walk up towards the building. This was all in English.

When I got to the building Another officer told me to sit down and... read complete review

My appointment was at 9 am on May 3rd, 2018. I arrived at the embassy by bus at about 8:10. There were already tons of people by the "bus stop"/in the non-immigrant line, and even though I stood by the pole with a yellow stripe like I read I was supposed to, it was a bit unclear if I was really in a line because no one else was by that pole. Moments later another K1 visa applicant came by and decided to stand there too which made me feel more confident.

I was called up to the embassy entrance pretty quickly and going through security was smooth. I went up to the waiting room and was greeted nicely by a man who asked me what visa I was applying for, and then told me to go to window 7 to leave my passport there. Then I sat down and waited for an hour to be called. The process has two steps; document drop-off and interview. The document drop-off comes first and normally only takes 5-10 minutes, but there were three cases before me of which one took a lot longer than that. W... read complete review

The appointment was very smooth and easy. They didn't ask many question. Simply to show them the evidence of the relationship and the affidavit of support. They asked what's your fiance's name? Have you been to the US before? They asked about mine and my fiance's divorce? asked about jobs and salaraies.
after that they told me I was approved, pending them receiving my medical report (I had already taken my medical exam, but it didn't get there before the interview).
Once they received the missing paperwork, the status changed to "issued" within the week.
All in all, they were easygoing and not as intense as I expected.

Mallory (the American) was able to plan a visit to Sweden during the time Paul's interview was scheduled, which was on February 22 (a Thursday). Paul resides in Gothenburg, which is a few hours away from Stockholm, so we booked a hotel for the night before and after the interview and took the train from GBG to Stockholm via MTR, which was a very pleasant trip that lasted about 3 hours each way. We picked the Radisson Blu Viking Hotel in Stockholm because it is literally right beside Central Station in Stockholm, so we were right there as soon as we got off the train and also had many amenities in walking distance, such as stores and restaurants located in the station. This hotel was very nice and worked for us, so we would definitely recommend that one. Others recommend booking a hotel much closer to the embassy instead (it was about a 15-20 minute cab ride from our hotel to the embassy), so it just depends on what works best for you and how you plan to travel to Stockholm.
