The interview process took about 2 hours total. Olga said that the woman who interviewed her was very nice but her Russian Language skills were not the best. The actual interview lasted about 5 minutes. Most women who did not receive visas did no have all the required documents and were told to submit them to be approved.

We arrived at the embassy at 7:30 AM, a little early but there were already others waiting. At about 7:45 they had the girls line up and then started checking passports and the pink “invitational slip” that was sent to the girls with instructions on it. Then they went through a security screening outside before they were allowed to enter the north entrance to the embassy. Once inside the girls received a number and waited to be called up to the first window. The entire visa process takes place in sort of a hallway and not in separate rooms. The girls can see and hear most everything that goes on with the others being interviewed.

He also asked for and kept one picture of us together. He then issued her a slip to take to another window to pay the fee of $100 which she paid in US currency. She then watc... read complete review

Her interview went great, but with the following BIG caveat! In the weeks prior to the interview we learned of one particular embassy employee who seemed to really love to make the girls cry. He turned down a couple very solid applications. Everyone was eventually approved, but only after being made to endure the most despicable innuendo (one girl was told her fiancee's plane tickets proved nothing, he probably came to see another girl!). This guy would even harass girls he wasn't interviewing; assigned to fingerprinting he would question the girls, do you speak English, etc. I wrote my Congressman, who in turn wrote the Embassy, which responded with total non-comittal blather- but on the crucial day the dude from hell was nowhere to be seen. My girl sailed through. As have most I know of. And let's hope this one guy is long gone. But watch out! And be prepared, look up your Congressman's contact info ahead of time- they really do work wonders!

Olga said that interview was very easy. CO did not ask any unusual questions and only looked at pictures of the two of us. She was in and out of consulate by 10:00am Moscow time. Total time of interveiw was about 10 minutes. Olga felt that she was approved before she arrivied for interview and that it was only a formality. Visa was processed next day and recieved by DHL the next.
Olga's interview was on a Monday and recieved visa on Thurday.
