Arrived at 9:30, for 10:00 appointment. Waited in line outside for about 30 minutes. Screening process outside was orderly, processing seven to ten people at a time.

Pre-screening at door for metal, electronics, large bottles of fluids. Wand was used to scan for concealed metal. Bags visually inspected.

Inside, there was another scan for metal using a door frame type scanner.

Applicants were sorted by visa / application type at one window. K1/K2 were directed to a specific window on second floor. Window was not staffed. After 30 - 45 minutes, a man came and took interview letter and passports. Passports were returned, and instructions were given to wait. Interview letter was put in cubbyhole on the wall. After five to ten minutes, another person came, again reviewed passports, invitation letter and printed list of scheduled interviews. Then asked if visas were paid. Payment sheet was given for two visas, and told at which window to make... read complete review

The interview was pretty painless. Long lines - yes, the interviewer was very personable. 30 mins in line outside (thank god, the rain stopped), go to window 5 or 6, go to the cashier (immigration visas without standing in line, for a k-1 visa the fee is $350 now), then go back to window 5-6 and give them the forms, police cert, pasport copy, birth cert copy and original, etc (basically everything from the list). Then wait, wait, and wait. Then talk to the interviewer. Pretty basic questions, when/how did you meet? bio questions (about yourself), where you're gonna live and get married. "You are approved". Yay! Leave, wait for your visa to be delivered in couple of days (within a week, he said). The interviewer was very personable and his sense of humor really helped in this stressful by default situation))

Olga waited about 3 hrs. because only 2 officers were working the windows. Once her name was called she was interviewed by a very pleasent man. Asked her how we met, how we communicated, both of our divorces, how many children I had, how many times I had visited her in Russia, and maybe one or two more questions that Olga has forgotten. The whole thing took about 15 minutes.
