Instead of the hassle of Metro Manila traffic coming from Rizal, we stayed overnight in Maine City Residences for $20 per night. It was a 15 minute drive from the Embassy. We had an 8:40 AM slot on February 14. We arrived at 8:00 AM, parked on the opposite side of the embassy where a man approached us and asked us Php100 for parking. She had an amazingly easy interview at the US Embassy in Manila. I accompanied her to witness the whole thing. We spent a lot of time gathering photos and back-and forth messages, documents having both our names on it (title on car I bought us, rental lease). Also, I had a very detailed Affidavit of Support document. Well at her interview they didn't ask for any of that...just some standard "how did we meet", "how many times I come to visit", "where do we plan to live in the US". One thing, however, and I'm glad I was there as I was asked to come to the interview counter to clear up if I was a resident or not.
