Review Topic: K3 Visa

Interview Date: October 8, 2009 (7:00 a.m. appointment)

We arrived at the Embassy before 6:00 a.m. There were four lines, one was for K1/K3. We went through that line but the security guard stationed behind the concrete barrier near the street asked us what time our appointment was and asked us to transfer to a different line. We followed, though I had doubts. I asked my daughter to ask a different security guard at the front of the K1/K3 line to ask if that's where we should go. He said yes, and I moved back to that line.

The guard checked our appointment letter and asked for a valid ID. After that we were led to the waiting area where there were about 5 benches where a line of people were waiting to be called inside the building.

They started letting us in just after 6:00 a.m. We went into the Immigrant Visa Unit where we were asked to bring out our DS-156 and DS-157 forms. Our pictures were not glued or stapled onto the forms, so ... read complete review

Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

My wife arrived at the USEM at 530AM for her 7AM appointment. She entered the embassy around 6AM. The security guard gave her a waiting number and she waited until 930AM to be called for fingerprinting.

That 3 1/2 hour wait was the hard part of the whole day. From the time she was called for her fingerprinting, it took only 45min-1hr to complete the whole process. Once she was done fingerprinting, she waited only 10min for her prescreen interview.

The prescreener, a Filipino, was cordial and pleasant. He asked for our current email correspondence, pictures, and my W-2 statement from 2008. He asked questions like, “How did you guys meet? What does your husband do? What do you do for a living?” It was pretty much a 5-10min prescreen. Once finished, he said to patiently wait for the final interview.

It was only about 5 min after she sat down that she was called in for her interview. This time it was an American (who spoke Tagalo... read complete review

Else arrived for her interview on time. She was called to the window after waiting about 1 1/2 hours. The first interviewer asked her several questions to include things that I like to do and hobbies. She also asked birthday information, when we met, how we ment, where we met, questions to that effect. She wanted to see the letter of employment and my latest tax return. She also checked chat logs and phone bills. The consular officer asked similar questions to what the screener asked. Else said they were very professional and kind and the process was pleasant.
