Review Topic: K1 Visa

Their questions were asked in a kind manner, it was a nice experience. they wanted to know about how we met, our wedding plans, and looked over the personal photos of us and his 1040 income tax return.

I went to the embassy at 5am and I'm glad that I did because I got through very fast; masses of people begin coming at 5:30 and you will have large delays if you arrive after 5:30. My visa was delivered to me in Cebu City within 2 days after the approval, so this was much faster than the typical 1 to 2 weeks.

Where we Stayed: Lotus Garden Hotel
How to Get to USEM: walk/jog/taxi
Time of Interview: 6:30 (arrived at 5:45, finished at 8:30)

The day before our interview, we tried walking from the hotel to the US Embassy, just so we could be familiar with the route and not waste time being lost. I also timed it - it was less than 10 minutes from the hotel to USEM, and that's while walking at a leisurely pace. On the morning of the interview, however, things ran a little late (due to our breakfast taking an extremely long time to be served), so we opted to take a taxi instead. It took less than 5 minutes.

*If you will be having your interview with your kid, you may or may not be allowed to bring a companion. We weren't allowed, so it was only me and my daughter inside. The manang ballpen vendor outside said it depends on the guard on duty.

1. Queue outside US Embassy
- The queue is formed near the annex, NOT THE MAIN BUILDING. Pr... read complete review

First of all, to God be the glory for the visa approval! (IR1 and IR2)... :-)

Our interview schedule was at 6:30am on July 10 but we got there 30 mins early and a lot of people were already lined up according to their visa categories. I met a K1 visa applicant whose appointment was supposed to be at 7:30am but the guard didn't allow her to line up yet because he said that line was for 6:30am appointments only.

The Filipino pre-screener was nice and asked me about some basic personal questions like my name, date of birth, who the petitioner is and his name, his job, if I have traveled to other countries before, how and when did my husband and I meet and when did my husband arrive (I said, "Sunday, July 8".

He said (in tagalog) "I can see that your birth certificate was registered late..do you happen to have your baptismal certificate with you now?"

Let's backtrack less than 2 weeks ago... I was reading a lot here on... read complete review

Review Topic: K1 Visa

My interview was scheduled on July 9, 2012, at 7:30 AM. I arrived at the Embassy at 7 AM. There were three lines entering the gate and the immigrants and K visa line is shorter and moving fast. By 7:20 I already got a queuing number (#6134), and had already dropped my appointment schedule, DS156 and DS157 (2 copies) and 1 copy of the DS156K at Window 39. We were asked to be seated and wait for our number to appear on the queuing board.

But as luck would have it, I am never really fortunate at anything random. I never win at raffles and bingo games... my number just never seems to get drawn. Finally at 8:45, I saw '6134' on the board and almost jumped out of my seat... I went to Window 43 for fingerprint scanning. It was a bit cold and I can\'t seem to get fingerprinting right so I was asked to rub my hands together and press on the scanner. Lesson: Take breakfast. That will give the energy and strength to press hard enough with results. If you are the type who ... read complete review
