Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

My Husband and I got the NOA1 last march and it has been 5mos now and still we have not received any updates re our petition from the USCIS. I just want to know how long will it takes before we can receive the approval from them. my husband hired an immigration lawyer to file the petition for us coz he's kinda busy at work an they said that maybe we can get the result before end of this year or early next year. is true?

I had my interview last August 07, 2013.
Everything went well during my interview. The American consul only asked few basic questions regarding me and my husband relationship, his job and address.
I picked up my visa within 3 business days only. It was quick. Thank you Lord, to You I bring back all the glory. ('')('')
Thank you VJ for this very informative site.
God bless for those who will have their coming interview. All I can say is try to relax, be prepared, pray and lift to God the rest. Don't forget to wear your smile.

I scheduled my interview appointment originally August 26th, but decided to change it to August 12th 07:30 AM (you can only change twice if more contact USEM Call center service).

06:00 a.m.
Arrived in USEM (US Embassy of Manila) and since it's Monday, there's already a long line, I think I was 15th to 20th in line.

06:20 a.m.
They started to gather us in front of the USEM, then the greeter or pre-screener (whatever you may call them) asked us to bring out passport, DS-156, DS 156K, and DS-157 and make sure to fill-out ALL Blanks with NONE or N/A. Not following instructions will result into re-scheduling of appointment! That was terror!!

When we finally get to the line to hand those documents to the pre-screeners, it turned out I became 9th to 12th in line as a lot of K1 applicants in the front made mistakes in filling out forms. I guess they were not reading guidelines from support websites like VJ forums :-D

For USEM Appointment/Interview,

Put the following together:

DS forms, appointment letter and passport
=these will be initially presented to the greeters in their booth or tent before going through security screening;they will staple the ds forms and appointment letter together and put a barcode sticker on the back of the passport then they will return these to the applicant

=there are no tables outside the embassy, so if one will bring a lot of things, make sure that it will be easier to get these forms..

=at the waiting area, the greeters (ladies in blue shirt) will collect these.. hand it to them so ur number will flash on the monitors right away for the biometrics (after they submit these forms inside the Annex bldg)

= DO NOT forget to put NONE or N/A in empty boxes/lines on the DS forms

==wait for ur number to flash on the monitors for the biometrics=
- Passport will eithe... read complete review

Well my fiancé told me to get up extra early so I could be there in line and not rushing. It was fairly painless. I was a little confused when I left because they didn't say refuse to issue or approved ... but they kept my passport and said "everything looks in order and good to go you are free to leave the embassy now" they were rushing people through. My Fiancé was confused when I told him because he read everywhere they tell you if your approved or if your denied. But after he researched it. It is no big deal they wouldn't of kept My passport if I wasn't approved. YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It will be one year since I saw my hubby to be when I get to fly to the US!! javascript:emoticon('')
