August 12th 2013
Gema had to go to the interview alone because sadly I was not able to attend due to work off time and more directly finance strains it would put on us to book a round trip for me.

She arrived at the embassy around 6:30am for 7:30am appointment and waited till almost 7:30 before being moved inside and asked for the standard forms.
2 copies DS156, 2 copies DS157, passport etc.

After moving inside she waited about an hour for her biometric screening which went smooth of course and then more waiting.

Soon she was called over to a Filina prescreener who asked her for her documents and ask how we met. Gema went through the whole story and then the only other questions was "what else?" which was odd because it wasnt a question. She had answered the how we met and how long we have known each other. Gema just elaborated more on the story of us and after a few more "what else?" repeats the Filipina asked for the I-134... read complete review

My Fiancee had a wonderful experience at her K1 interview at the US Embassy in Manila. She arrived at 6:30am and here appointment was at 7:30am. She was finished and left Embassy at 9:30am. The Filipina interviewer asked her 5 questions and said our documents were complete. The woman Embassy interviewer said we have very organized and complete documents and asked 3 questions.

It is finally over...that big day that we all think about that is in the future sometime that gives us that big unknown feeling.....

The day before our interview, we traveled to Manila and checked into the Casa Bocobo Hotel which is not far away from the Embassy. This is a great place to stay, clean, quite, breakfast included and very affordable....and the staff !!!....they are very friendly and accommodating.

We tried to get a good night sleep, but with all the anticipation of the next day, it was very hard. We set my iphone to wake us up at 4:00 am....uggg !! we reluctantly rolled out of bed as that horrible alarm sounded off.....and then we started to prepare for the day ahead.

We finally made it down to the lobby area of the hotel and pulled out all of our paper work which we went back over using the really nice check lists that have been created by great contributors of this forum...and thanks so much for that !!!

Aft... read complete review

I woke up before my alarms went off (had set two alarms for 4am just to be sure), showered, drank a cup of coffee and ate something, and got ready for the interview. The hotel that I stayed was just a few blocks away from the USEm and paid only Php50. I was at the embassy shortly after 5:30 and saw several lines for different visa applicants, 1 line for the tourist visa applicants, another for immigrant visa applicants, one line for seafarers, and finally another line for K1 visa applicants. There were several ladies lined up already, some dressed in casual-business, few just wore denims and shirts, few women with their kids, and a couple with their foreign fiances'. A guy offered a chair and decided to take it as I was wearing my 4-inch heels, php30 for the seat wouldn't hurt anyway. By the way, vendors will lure you to have your picture taken again and try to convince you that you need to have 4 pieces of 2x2 pictures, so make sure you bring enough pictures, because they will charge ... read complete review
