PATIENCE IS A VIRTUE

The Filipino Consul was very accommodating and friendly.
He just asked me basic questions like how did we met, when was the last time he visited me, how many times he visited me, how did my fiance got migrated to America, what is his work and how old are we. I was very nervous about my Affidavit of Support since my fiance didn't meet the 125% poverty guideline. He just told me that it is fine since we are both young and I can be able to work there. He said that everything is clear. javascript:emoticon('')

I was very nervous in my interview with American Consul but everything went fine. Just be yourself and be calm. He gave me a pamphlet. He just asked me how did we met, how many times he visited me and what is his work. He said I'm approved and congratulations. And then I proceed to releasing area. javascript:emoticon('')

First off, you really don't have to be there crazy early because you all enter at the same time (around 7am -ish). The waiting times between counter can be really long but each counter transaction doesn't last for even 5 minutes. I honestly had no problems with the American Consuls. I think the pre-screening area with the Filipino personnel were much more problematic. They can only deal with basic requirements/documentation and not really familiar with other details (or just lack total initiative to go out and beyond their duties to help the client).

(Warning: Rant!)
I have sort of a special case since I had a legal name change effected last 2005 (NOTE: IF YOU HAD ANY CHANGES TO YOUR BIRTH CERTIFICATE GET AN NBI CLEARANCE FOR BOTH THE OLD AND NEW NAME). I have all the needed documents especially the 2 NBI clearances but the personnel insisted that I should have also submitted a CENOMAR for my old name. I explained that it wouldn't make sense to do that because one... read complete review

Fiance arrived at 5am and was 10th in line outside of the US Embassy. He got in at around 7am ( appointment was 730am)
He said he had to go through 5 steps.
1. Submit Doc
2. Filipina Officer Interview (<5 min)
3. Oath Taking (<5min)
4. Consul Officer Interview (<5min)
5. A window to set up delivery of Visa and Passport to home residence)

He was not asked to submit any of the papers I sent him. Affidavit of Support, W2, 1040, Bank Statement, proof of Home ownership, Life Insurance, Proof of Genuine relationship. He said he was just asked appointment letter and DS 160, and his docs from Philippines.

Interview Questions.
What is the address you are going to in the US?
What profession does your Fiance hold?
So you were living in together for some years?
Do you have any pictures with you? ( He had pictures with him.. may about 50 pieces neatly labeled and filed) The C... read complete review

CO was very friendly and NOT intimidating. Interview was pleasant and more of a fun conversation rather than interrogation. CO just asked Melanie some basic personal questions such as what I like to do for fun and she just said watch TV and he asked what I like to watch. She replied NBA and car racing and he just laughed. He also asked her what attracted me to her and she replied it was her legs (true) and they laughed some more.

A lot of beneficiaries go for the interview and are very nervous. Melanie was not. She was confident as she knew that our relationship is genuine and it projected to the CO and she was easily approved without any issues.
