Absolutely horrible experience! The interview is now 2 parts. First part is basically checking documents to see if everything is there. My husband was given a slip of paper stating all documents were there and given a blue pass to go back the next interview process at 7:45 am. This is when everything went downhill. The officer asked for documents that were not included in the list of documents necessary. Example was asking for original divorce decree papers for the petitioner instead of the applicant and also the original birth certificate of the petitioner instead of the applicant and then asked for the Mexican passport for the petitioner who only has a US passport and when my husband tried to explain all this the officer would not reply to him and denied my children and there was nobody else we could speak to at the consulate in person or by phone. Thousands of dollars in airline fees and hotel reservations and ended up with nothing but a blue paper stating we needed to submit be mai... read complete review

As several have said, at least for CDMX there was not a lot of time between the email from the consulate with instructions etc. (P3) and the actual interview. You get two appointments - drop-off of paperwork and then the actual interview. Consulate does not recommend moving your appointment, full stop - even if you cannot get everything outlined in the P3. We got everything we needed before the interview and dropped off the day before. The person who greeted my s/o during the drop-off and checked all paperwork was very kind he said and helpful, made sure we had everything we needed for the actual interview the next day. Next day, spent more time waiting for the interview than actual interview - that took about 10 minutes itself. Few questions on how we met, how often we saw each other, etc. Approved with no issues - took almost the 10 days they said it would for local DHL to get the visa to us.
