Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

We arrived at the embassy around 12, took our numbered badges, and waited for about an hour before being allowed into the embassy. We waited about another 30 minutes before being called to submit our documents.

There were only 4 people waiting for immigration visas and no one waiting for tourist visas. However, everyone waited about 1.5 hours before they started doing interviews.

The CO was extremely nice and easy to talk to. My wife was sworn in, fingerprinted, and asked to sign the DS-230 part 2. She then commented that she was just transferred from Uzbekistan to Kuwait. We talked informally about Uzbekistan and we showed pictures from our wedding.

The CO only asked my wife 2 questions: How did we meet? and When will you travel to the US? Then she said her visa is approve and we'll receive everything in about 1-2 weeks. Very easy and happy for this to be done.

We have always found the Kuwait Embassy very polite and very helpful to all our questions and concerns. Our interview took place on June 2, 2009. I flew to Kuwait to be with my husband and also to attend the interview. We were the last to be interviewed and we bpoth went to the window indicated. I was asked to be seated and the interviewer asked my husband a few questions.
1. When did you meet?
2. How did you meet?
3. When did your wife become a muslim?
4. Why did she become a muslim?
5. How did she become a muslim?
6. What does her family think?
7. What does your family think?
Then she asked me the same questions and checked off on a piece of paper what he had answered. Our answers matched of course,as we have been married a year and know each other so well. The lady was very polite and easy to talk to. She then said our application was fine but she had additional processing to do. I asked her that meant and she told me ..name c... read complete review

Review Topic: Direct Consular Filing

Emailed request for an appointment to file the I-130 petition for my wife on May 3rd. The embassy responded on May 5th with an appointment date for May 25th. All immigrant visa appointments are set for 1-2pm but it is recommended that you show up at least 45 minutes prior. We entered the embassy when it opened at 1pm and were the 3 couple in line for immigration visas. You are first called to the window to submit all your documents. Then you are directed to the cashiers window to pay the $355 1-30 petition fee. You then take your seat and wait to be called back for the initial interview. We spent a total of about 3 hours at the embassy.

The initial interview wasn't a big deal. The CO asked some basic questions of when we met, how we met, when we were married, etc. She then asked me how long I had been in Kuwait and when I planned to return to the US. The CO then said that my petition was approved at that everything would be sent to DHS in Greece for review. Howev... read complete review
