The major question I have is why this consulate seems constitutionally unable to provide an accurate list of the documents required. I'm not a conspiracy theorist but they seem to almost have a policy that applicants will have to return again and again -- necessitating expensive trips to Nairobi and stays in either overpriced or crappy hotels, major stress, etc.

I am not an anti-government conservative, but if this consulate were in the private sector, they would go out of business very quickly. I am in my own weird way, a booster of America (particularly when the country is criticized by snotty British people in Kenya!) but I will never forgive the U.S. government for the pain they have caused me and my husband and our children with their inefficiency, incompetence, delays, and abusive behavior.

I am not sure why so many people have been generous with their reviews. I hated the US embassy in Nairobi and I hope I never need to go back and I am a US citizen. The only pleasant people there were Kenyan.

When arriving at the embassy I was almost not allowed in. I told the guard that I had traveled all the way from the US for my fiancé's interview and she decided to let me pass. We didn't get there super early like everyone else mentions, so we had to wait in line. I don't mind waiting in line.

Somewhere along the line someone had reversed the month and day of my husband's birthday in the computer system. I checked for the 3rd time when we were asked to approach the desk if it had been fixed and it hadn't. The woman told me she would fix it at that very moment. When we were done with her we had to wait a long time for the interview. As we waited, we could hear all the other interviews. They were so cruel and asked rude questions. They obv... read complete review

I went with my fiance to the interview. We arrived at 5:30 am for a 7:00 appointment and were 2nd in line. Didn't matter much as they let us in first and we were continually first in line since I am a USC! After going through security (make sure you have your interview letter handy since they ask for it at least 5 times) we were taken to the waiting room. We were called up pretty quickly to turn in our paperwork. The lady at that window was Kenyan and everything went ok except she made him fill out an additional form (just a copy of one he already had...) and was kind of cranky. We sat down to wait for biometrics.

I'm pretty sure that would have gone quickly, but the machines were down so for 3 hours we waited for those to be fixed. Once they were up and running we went up & he was fingerprinted. We sat back down expecting a long wait for the interview, but we were called almost immediately!

Interview was with an American man, he was very nice. Fiance was ... read complete review

I got to there at 6:00 am in the morning and found a queue at the Embassy gates. We were let in at 6:30am. Passed through the security checks and into the building . At about 8:30 am i was called on one of the windows and presented my documents. The lady was mean and she just told me off right away that i was wasting her time I should have bundled everything together . My documents were neatly arranged and i thought she was going to ask for them one by one.Only to be suprised She gathered all the forms Ds-156, Ds 165K, Ds 230 part I and II , Ds -157, Affidavit of support, proof of ongoing relationship, Birth certificate, Tax forms and any other documents of proof! phew, Was done with her and she just told me to sit and wait to be called for the interview.

I was called to counter 10 an hour later, and believe me i found the meanest of them all. She was not pleasant at all and told me to take place my right hand and repeat after her. She asked me several questions . when d... read complete review
