My appointment was at 9:30 but I got there after 8am.

Make sure to bring two passport style photos even when you have submitted
two photos to the NVC. You can take photos inside of the embassy
but it costs 1000yen.

When they call the number, the number called appears on the screen, but after the first call, they often only call the number. Even though the announcement is in both English and Japanese, they only say the booth number in Japanese.

Questions asked at the first window (when submitting documents):
Where he lives
What he does
Who the joint sponsor is (since we have one)
When I intend to go to the States

Questions asked at the interview:
When we got married
How and when we met
Where I stay in the States

The whole process took less than two hours.

I got there 8am (my appointment was 9:30am) there were about 20 people in line at the gate...
when I get the door a Japanese lady checking names on the list...but I WAS NOT THERE...she wrote my name on the paper and gave me the checklist and got the security check...

Entered the room there were about 50 or more people waiting for immigration visas. (the Notice says from June 24 to September 1 is the high season for visa)

I got the number from the machine and waited. After 30min later they called my number. I went to the counter #6 and a Japanese lady checked my documents (just gave her 2 passport photos and a Passport and medical results) then she said take a seat...

After 10min later they called my name and I went to the counter #1. A Japanese lady explained to me why I was not on the list*. then she said take a seat.

*They have moved up my interview from June 28 to June 21 when I requested it to the embassy by email..... read complete review

Arrived about one hour early. Interview was early morning.
All the people at the embassy were friendly and nice.
Nothing to complain about and everything was fine.
The embassy was not too crowded or busy that day.

The whole thing took about one and a half hours.
The questions asked were not too hard or complex.
The interviewer did not ask for any evidence at all.
Good experience.
