Review Topic: K1 Visa

My K1 visa interview was on Aug 14, 2014 at 9:15 AM. I reached the Mumbai Consulate in Bandra Kurla Complex area at 8:45 AM. We had to initially wait outside the main gate. Within a few minutes a representative called us in after checking our appointment letters.
There was a quick security check after which we were sent in. Inside there was a waiting area with two separate sections for Immigrant visa applicants and Non-immigrant visa applicants. I joined the Immigrant visa group. Five minutes later, the Immigrant visa group was sent in to the main building.
A ground officer issued token numbers to us.
I remained seated while a ground officer came up and asked for a couple of my documents (passport, PCC, medical report envelope, birth certificate and DS 160) and then arranged them in a certain order, pinned them and gave them back to me to hold.
There was a screen displaying token numbers. There were around 16 or 18 counters. The ten counters to the left were... read complete review

My interview was very simple. I guess i was lucky. I was only asked the following questions.

1. What is your fiance's name?
2. How did you meet?
3. Is it love or arranged marriage?
4. When do you plan to get married?

That's all. Then the officer said, "Do you know about your right against domestic violence? You will have to marry within 90 days of your arrival in the US. Your visa will be ready for pick-up in a few days".

Review Topic: F-2A Visa

Great people at this consulate. Everyone is very polite and helpful. Also very compassionate people. God knows I have written them gazillion emails during this whole visa processing thing, but they have responded to my every query, not just through their customer service, but from people who actually have my file.

The atmosphere inside the consulate is very calm and quiet. I love that they have a photographer inside setting up shop, in case you forgot to bring required passport photographs.

My only complain is when I was there for my interview, no one was manning the little coffee place/snack bar they have in there. Desperately wanted to buy a cup of coffee and some snack. But no one showed up at the register.

Great place, but would not visit again though, because who wants to be interviewed twice, right? ha ha..

We stayed in Hotel Sofitel which is walkable distance to the Embassy. We reached the earlier day. Interview time was 7:30 AM. and we reached there at 6:30 AM. At about 7:30 AM, one security guard asked all the people having 7:30AM to line up. The other batches start from 8 AM (but they are for visitor /other visa). In 7:30AM batch, all were green-card spousal visa candidates. They asked us to remove any CDs/pen-drives/cameras etc. After going inside, they enquired if any language support (translators) are needed. So, you can pick the translator there even if you didn't opt earlier. They have handed over all the originals submitted to NVC. Anyway, after about 90 minutes, the interviewer came and asked a very few basic questions. 1. What did you like in your partner ? 2. How many kids your husband has ? 3. Is your husband's ex-wife is in constant touch with your husband ? 4. What about your children ? who takes care of them ? It took about 5-10 min. Then the interviewer (lady) confirmed... read complete review

Review Topic: General Review

My fiancee went to the OFC and got her finger print done. It took about 10 mins for this process. They gave a sticker and put it on the back of her passport.

The next day she went to the consulate. She went 1 hour early, but it didn't matter since they make you wait behind barriers until 15 before your appointment time. She went in and it was fairly routine. She gave her documents (passport, appointment letter, ds160, medical, pcc, etc). Then they asked for proof of relationship. She provided pictures, plane tickets, cc statements, and 800 pages of whatsapp chats. They only looked at a few pictures and then asked her questions.

They asked:

who is calling you?
does your fiance have a brother or sister?
where does the brother or sister work and live?
What does your fiance's parent's do for work?
where does your fiance live?
What do you study?**
What does your fiance study?**
