Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

I reached for at 0645 for a 0730 interview. All the intended immigrants were lined up at 0700. Taken inside the embassy for a security check. The security check takes around half an hour. Then we were asked to sit in the waiting area with our PCC, medical, passport and DS260 comfirmation. DO NOT take the envelope containing the CD inside the consulate.
We were allotted ticket numbers, they stuck chits to our passports. Those numbers were one by one called and an Indian officer collected all the documents for verification. He also gave me the domestic violence paper to read. After that I had to wait for around half an hour for my turn. At 9 my token number appeared on the screen, window 16!!

Process & Procedure my fiance had to follow for obtaining K1 Visa from Consulate General Mumbai

As your petition has been approved by the USCIS, the petition will be sent to mumbai / Delhi consulate office. After that they will send you a E-mail with the intimation and instructions to get prepared for the interview.

These are the steps to be followed for the visa interview
Step 1: Obtain your Police Clearance Certificate from the Regional Passport Office.

Step 2: Complete your medical examination with an approved panel physician from the list available at http://mumbai.usconsulate.gov/medical_examination2.html.

Step 3: Complete Form DS-160 online at ImmigrantVisas.state.gov and print the confirmation letter. Please do this for the fiancé and any derivative children who will be applying for a visa.

Step 4: Go to

Review Topic: K1 Visa

The interview went quite easy for me. Though i was very nervous when it started up halfway through i was able to relax and be at ease with myself. You have to be very familiar with all the information and basic details and all the paper you have in your possession. They do not allow phones, CDs, pen-drives or any unnecessary electronic gadgets with you. Since mine was a K1 visa I had to carry proof of relationship like photos, email and chat message printouts, phone bills details time and duration of calls between us. We got engaged in a small ceremony when he was in India for a short visit so had the pictures of the ceremony. The embassy officer was quite helpful and nice. He asked questions on how long we knew each other, about my fiance's educational background, a few current details about him, how many times we have met, what our future plans were and when we were planning on having a marriage ceremony. He also told me of how once the VISA is approved and i enter the US i will hav... read complete review
